I just have to say I'm pretty proud and grateful to my mom and dad. I've recently started talking to Michelle at A Critter's Chance about doing wildlife rehabilitation. I've wanted to try that for years and never had the opportunity. She and I spoke back in the spring at IACC, but we're just now getting together because she's been swamped. Anyway, they're having a garage sale August 15 and 16 to raise some funds. (I'll post more on this when I have more details.) I'll be working at the sale. I asked my parents to look around for some items they may want to get rid of. I just happened to stop by there today to grab an old dog bowl my mom had for me and got loaded up!! My dad had gathered a whole box of new T-shirts and shorts from his store and plans to have a few more things. My mom gave me a whole bag of shirts, several pictures and a few other items! I also walked away with two bags of newspapers for the IACC recycling bin! Now, here's the part that floored me. FIDO is having an event on August 10th where people can bring their dogs. They'll have several tables for vaccines, microchips, flea treatment, etc. I wanted to volunteer but can't because there's a meeting for A Critter's Chance that day. I was going to buy some supplies, but just decided to make a donation. I was telling my mom about it, and she said she wanted to donate too. She wrote me a check for $100 and told me to include it with my donation!! Does that ROCK or what!? I was feeling down earlier, but I'm pretty happy right now! My faith in humanity is restored! :) Thanks mom!! (Dad doesn't know about the donation. That's between me and mom. ;) )
BTW - if you do have some items you just want to get rid of, I'll be happy to get with you and take them to the yard sale!
