I'm an Alabamian Cat!

Boomer on Activities - Fri, August 01 2008

The move went smoothly! Dad was really worried that I wouldn't adjust, but I was awesome! First of all, the trip was boring, so after a little meow I went to bed. I was feeling a bit tired all morning, so the trip ride was a welcome time for me to nap. Six hours later, we stopped at this temporary residence Dad calls a hotel. I adapted so quickly. Basically I sniffed around, rubbed my chin on a couple of things, then settled down on the bed after a bit to eat and a lot to drink. I didn't like rest stops. Dad tried to make me go to the bathroom or drink/eat, but I was too scared of the noise. Unusually enough, the crate was my haven. The next day we had a seven hour car ride and I did well enough. I didn't sleep the whole way, so my voice was definately heard. Dad and Grandma kept saying, "Boomer, your complaint has been heard and registered. Please allow six hours for proper response." That made me madder so I meowed louder. All in all though everyone said I was a great travel cat...after the first hour of course.

As for the apartment I love it! There are so many huge windows! Not only that, but the sills are large enough for me to sit on without a window seat! The rooms are large and there is so much space. Grandma and Grandpa said that it is a small house, but I don't care. I'm just excited with regards to the running potential. Then Dad has a "study." I call it my CatPad. It has my toys, a futon, and a large desk near a window for me to peep out at the world! Needless to say, this will be feline headquarters when Oreo and Sir Denny come down for a little fun! The only things I don't like about the apartment include:

1.) There are two doors. Before there was one door. I knew exactly when and where Dad was coming in so I could greet him properly. Now, I have to guess.

2.) I'm on the first floor. Before I was on the second floor of the apartment complex. I could gaze out high on my window perch and proclaim my greatness to Indy. Now I'm on the lower level. I must say it is hard to proclaim greatness in Mobile when on the lower level. I was hoping to be King Boomer, but oh well.

3.) Dad has an automatic ice maker. It scares the piss out of me every time it pops out an ice cube. The ice cube crash is so loud! I guess I'll adjust though.

All in all the trip was fine and Dad is attempting to unpack and adjust to Alabama life. Hope all is well in Indy. The future King Boomer of Mobile is signing off.

Good to hear from you Boomer! I'm very glad the ride wasn't terrible like we were all thinking it might be. Do you meow with a southern accent now? If not, you'll probably start. Keep us posted on life in AL.

Bama-Boomz! What a trip for you! I'm not into rest stops either and Mom said you probably cried the 2nd day because you wanted to "go" but couldn't given the circumstances. You're new pad sounds good -- except for the lower than peasant floor. Make everyone kowtow to you as they walk by! Great to hear from your Boomz!

Boomer, I am so happy you love your new home. You are a better traveler than I am. There are advantages on being on the first floor. You can get closer to all the kritters. You'll be able to see them right up close through those big windows.

Hey, Boomer the cat....it was great hearing about your moving adventure. Yeah, the ice maker used to scare me too, but I got used to it...besides mama sometimes puts those in my water bowl..I like that. I bet your dad would like you to help him unpack. Be sure and inspect those boxes...they could have a toy that he forgot.

Sounds like you men have quite the bachelor pad!! I'm sure you're glad the trip is over. Just think...you get to travel that for holidays unless you get a pet sitter. *evil grin* Mom and sis thought of you yesterday when they were at the Petsmart in Castleton. There was a mini-me, only a girl!! She'd have been a great little sister for you.

Enjoy settling in and those window sills. Sounds like life is good.

Will you be able to be on more now that you're in Mobile?

Crap, forgot to post a comment with regards to my infection. I'm doing well. Oddly enough, I love pills. Dad drops them on the floor as if on accident and I can't wait to get it in my mouth and run with it. I still go to piss about three times a day, but I guess it's better than eight. I still have two days left on meds, then we'll see where I'm at then.

{sniff-sniff} I will miss you, my love.........{waving paw} Mom says if you need to find a good vet, she can ask her friends who they take their felines to. They live in Gulf Shores, not sure how far away that is, all I know is Alabama is WAY FAR AWAY from Indy. :**(
