Vaccines - Coronavirus

Anne on Health - Thu, July 31 2008

So it is time (soon) for us to get our annual vaccines. I've been looking at the wellness pet clinic where we went last year and notice that their dog package does not include coronavirus vaccine. Nigel had it last year and I'm wondering if he needs it this year. I googled it and the sites recommended all pets get it. Does anyone have any opinions? I don't want to overvaccinate, but don't want him to catch anything as it sounds nasty.

Thanks!

This shot is not included in Daisy's shots. I never knew about this shot and it does sound nasty. Daisy gets the shot for Lyme Disease because she goes in the woods a lot during the summertime. I met a man whose dog got the lyme disease and it is nasty too. I don't think his dog was up on any of its shots. Anywho... I guess you could have a talk with your vet and decide on it then.

Some vaccine combo's don't include it now. The old theory is that if a puppy had Coronavirus and Parvovirus, that puppy would have severe symptoms. I think the reason why it is no longer included is that this old theory is not true, and research showed there was not much benefits to including it in the vaccine combo. At least that is what I think happened.
