Foster Home Needed

Stacy on Boarding - Sun, July 27 2008

I just learned Holden at Hamilton County Humane is heartworm positive. His treatment has been sponsored! Now, all he needs is a foster home!! My girls haven't had their bordatella shots yet. I'm going to try to get them over this week. However, they have to have one and then another two weeks later to be protected. Surely someone on here could find some room for Holden or knows someone!? He needs to be kept in a crate throughout his treatment, so he just needs a quiet room somewhere to recover, a couple of walks per day and lots of love.

I posted this as a comment on another post, but I wanted to make sure everyone saw it. I know most of us are full, but I thought if we could all put the word out, we may find someone willing to help this poor boy. I hate it that he is sick and only needs a foster home to get well again. Why oh Why can't I hit the lottery?!!

Holden—The Catcher in the Rye

Like Holden Caulfield, this boy has had a rough life. As a pup, he lived with us at the old shelter. He was adopted and moved away. In April, Johnson County Animal Control called us. They had found him wandering around, scanned him for a microchip and saw our name. That is how we were reunited with this sweet boy. When he arrived Holden was in terrible shape, filthy, underweight, and full of cuts and bruises. Sadly, we also discovered he is heartworm positive. He’s only 3 years old and not a very big guy. Though his paperwork says “lab mix”, it looks like he’s more of a Heinz-57. He has a blue cast to his coat, which is looking much nicer these days. He was obviously neglected by his owner, maybe even mistreated. Despite all this, he’s a friendly boy. He can be protective of his food bowl, but if I were homeless and starving, I’d guard mine too! For this reason, Holden would be best suited to a home with adults & 16+ kids.

Holden is currently Heartworm positive and can begin treatment to cure his condition as soon as we find a foster (and hopefully permanent) home for him. We are so grateful to our donors for contributing toward his heartworm treatment which is totally sponsored. If you would like to foster or adopt Holden, please email jcavanaugh@hamiltonhumane.com.

No room at the inn around here. We just added a second crate for Scamper so he can be with us in whatever room we are in. Jennifer was really nice to work with so just email her if anybody has any questions.
