I'm doing great!!!!

Tito/Tiny-Foster dog on Behavior - Sun, July 27 2008

Hey guys. I think I'm going to be able to stay here and get my heartworm treatment. Mom said today that I am the perfect dog and she can't understand why I was unwanted. The only negative she could come up with was the marking but that can and will be taken care of after my treatment. I can also jump really well so she thinks that might be an issue. Other than that, I'm perfect. I very rarely bark even when the little wieners are all going crazy. I just lay around and behave myself. I have settled down so much since I'm being fed 3-4 times a day. Mom's trying to get my weight up before treatment cuz she heard some dogs won't eat during it. I even did better last night. I didn't get an extra potty break during the night. Sure I whined really loud a couple of times but mom told me to be quiet and I listened. Dad said I was exactly the kind of dog he likes. Mom says No way Jose-he's not staying!!!! I have learned to sit for treats, petting and food. I have learned that I can't jump up on people or furniture(mom says that's in case my new family wouldn't like that). Overall, I'm fitting in great and feeling better each day. This place is really cool and I like everybody. Mom even brought me a nice bigger wire cage yesterday. WAGS let her borrow a nice big one for me so I have one in the living room and one in the bedroom so I can be with everybody all the time. Even Officer Chase is being nicer to me. He hasn't had to snap at me in days. I am such a happy dog. Mom says I look like I'm smiling all the time. Mom wishes she could take me out to meet some of you but I'm on house arrest until after treatment. Have any of you guys had heartworm treatment? Mom's pretty nervous about it since she's never had a dog go through it before. Sometimes I whine a lot in the crate and she's worried I'll do that during treatment and make myself sicker. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for being my friends. It feels great to be clean, fed, loved and have friends.

Glad to know you're fitting in at Weiner Wonderland. Don't let Chase worry you. Just hand him a doggie beer and he'll be your best friend. Watch out, though... he doesn't know his limit. I've seen him in action.

Scamper, my Aunt Nancy (Tyler was her dog that crossed the bridge in April) asked my mom over the weekend if Mom would "foster" you for two years until she finishes law school. Aunt Nancy loves you!!! Well, I had to tell Mom no way...it's bad enough here with Penny.

I'm so impressed you doing so well with the Weiner clan! That Officer Chase can be a handful sometimes. I think it's the lack of donuts in the house.

It's really only fair that dad gets to pick a dog for himself. Scamper sounds like a perfect choice. He was probably sent to you for a reason beyond being wonderful foster parents.

Wrong! Dad has Chase who he insisted on keeping when I had a home lined up for him. They "bonded" while I was off taking care of my dad. Then he set the permanent limit at 3 when we adopted Cocoa Puff. Now he's trying to up the limit and keep Sweetie. If he keeps this up, we're going to have to quit fostering or buy a bigger house☺

Barkey is Uncle Jerry's fault???? Dear Dog! You'd think he would have learned from that experience.

I'm so glad you took him in! I was thinking about fostering Holden, but I'm not sure I have the time. He would have to stay by himself a lot of time because Minnie can be a butthead. This is probably not the best situation for him. You'll have to let me know how it goes with the heartworm treatment. Good Luck!!
I have a feeling Sweetie is going to end up staying at your house! ;)

actually they need to be kept very quiet during the heartworm treatment so it probably wouldn't be a big problem for him to be alone most of the time(unless it made him really anxious). We have Scamper for a week to make sure it's going to work BEFORE we start treatment. once you start the treatment, it's very important that they remain as stress free as possible.
