PLEASE consider helping this sweet Dachshund!!

When I was at Indianapolis Animal Care & Control yesterday, I met the
sweetest Dachshund!
He caught my eye because he is IDENTICAL to my own "Oscar" at home.

He is a Neutered Male, with Red hair, Standard size (18 pounds), and about
6 years old.
He is mostly if not completely blind, and possibly deaf.
He gets around very well and is very curious of his surroundings!

As soon as I carried him outside to get some sunshine and love, he peed as
soon as he was on the grass.
I also noticed that his kennel was clean when I took him out, so based on
those observations, I would surmise that he has some house-training
experience!

He really is a sweet boy and the thought of him not finding a loving home
just breaks my heart!
He came in as a stray on July 18 and was set to be put to sleep today, but
the kennel manager at IACC agreed that he deserved another week.

PLEASE if you are interested in giving this adorable guy a home, contact
me (Nina- LexGaither@comcast.net).
He may only have until July 30th, so don't take too long to think about
it.

If anyone is willing to foster this little guy, I would be willing to get
him listed on some adoption websites and arrange him being spotlighted at
some adoption events.

If you are interested in seeing him at Indianapolis Animal Care & Control
(located at 2600 South Harding Street in Indianapolis) this dog's intake
number is: A110989.

I don't have a picture of him (I'll get one today) but he looks IDENTICAL
to our dog, Oscar (for those you who have had the pleasure of meeting him)
and similar to most standard red dachshunds. He is a pound or two
overweight but that is easily lost with proper diet.

This dog sounds like he is right up Dachsaholic's alley, although she has Scamper right now. She has that "give me your tired, your poor, your blind, your old, your infirm" philosophy and wants to give the old guys a chance at a decent last few years.

She's exactly who I thought of when I got the post at work :)

You are a saint, no ifs ands or buts.... the post just broke my heart. I told MY husband we needed a bigger house (and yard) and Nigel needs a friend... his response was to email me a post about how crappy the housing market is right now - so i guess that was a "No"??? :)

Actually I found a smaller house that I want. But it has a HUGE fenced yard, is at the end of a dead end street, has HUGE garage, big back patio, and is way cheaper than our house. I'm afraid ours would be hard to sell since we tend to have a lot of houses for sale in our neighborhood. I've sent out a couple of emails. I'll try to work on it in between my big girl job.

He's safe!!! North American Dachshund Rescue picked him up yesterday and he's in a foster home with 12 other special needs Doxies. Rock on little wieners!!!!! In the meantime, I got an email from someone that found a pup earlier this year and needs to find a home for him. I'm going to try to find his CL ad and post it in case anyone needs another dog.

Woo Hoo! Glad to hear he's safe, and, as always, kudos to you for trying to help him out.

No problem. She's keeping my contact info for the next time. But that's ok because I have hers too and she does Pit rescue and it's much harder to find someone to help with the Pittie babies than it is to find Doxie helpers.
