Dear Friends,
Over 11,000 cats and dogs were killed in Indianapolis shelters using taxpayer dollars last year. Most of those cats and dogs were healthy and lovable but were simply never given a chance to be placed in a loving home.
This sad statistic is even more tragic considering mass shelter killing can be greatly reduced or even eliminated when more practical and cost-effective programs such as extended shelter hours and off-site adoptions are embraced by those who run and oversee the animal sheltering system. These and other programs (collectively called the No Kill Equation) have been proven to dramatically increase the number of animals saved in communities around the country.
Please join us by signing this petition requesting that our city officials embrace cost-effective, proven methods to dramatically reduce and eventually eliminate the tax-funded mass-killing of homeless pets in the city's shelter.
