I just had a HUGE sigh of releif. All I could think about was how scared they must've been during the storms on Monday night.

oh sorry, yeah they are both there. they were picked up together. they are in a kennel waiting for transportation in the morning. my sis called and said that a volunteer from there was messing around on craigslist saw the pictures and listings and called right away. im not sure how they made it there but they are safe.

apparetnly they have been there since sunday. sis said the volunteer was oddly amused at the fact that a pug and bassett were so friendly and traveling together. thank you to everyone who were concerned. im going to have to make sure maraka gets there story when they get home so we can post it. not sure if they will still be in shock or not though. well see

I have images of Milo and Otis running through my head (Pug and Cat, Pug and Bassett...same ironical pairing)!

Hey everyone - my mom is actually the volunteer that saw the ad and contacted the family - what a relief!! They were the cutest little things in their cage together. My Mom said she wasn't sure what she would do if we ever were lost...so thank goodness these 2 sweet babies found their owners!!

I LOVE your post, not only that it was entertaining, but that they will have tags and chips. Are you parents willing to consider having them neutered????

Even bigger update......

So the dogs are safe at home. they are barking and playing. Gizmo has to go to the vet cause there is something wrong with his eye. they are both now utd on shots both been microchipped and on tuesday they both have appts to be fixered. my sister on the other hand is trying to make my parents not fix gizmo as apparently *i dont know much about the breed and im sure she doenst either* that when you fix a pug thats when he gets fat and starts having serious respitory problems. hmmmm umm i dont think that he would gain weight with a growing bassett on his curly tail. i'm trying to talk her out of talking them out of it so im sure it will happen. though our family is not big on altering animals Maraka is the first in our family to be done and shes perfectly fine. and i would have her no other way. and i would have oscar and gizmo in no other home! :)

OH YEAH....forgot to mention. i work on 116th street in fishers and the boys were found by a nice man on 116th street and cumberland road. i think they tried to find me!

Hey Jen - I have never heard of that in any breed...but I can tell you this - you are decreasing his risk of prostate cancer by getting him neutered. Unneutered males have a much higher risk of getting cancer than neutered males. And as long has Oscar is chasing him - he won't get lazy! Here is a quote from a spay & neuter website:

"Will my animal become fat and lazy after being altered?

Your animal will not get fat and lazy after being spayed or neutered unless you feed him/her too much. To keep your pet healthy they should get regular exercise: walking for dogs, toys and scratching posts for cats."
