Silly Food Question

Anne on Nutrition - Tue, July 22 2008

So, it is about time to switch Nigel to "big boy food" and I got a sample of Prairie. The problem is (and this sounds silly) he likes "big bites" not the tiny little Canidae, Prairie, Eagle Pack Holistic bites. Is there a good food out there that comes in bigger kibble pieces for bigger dogs?

Thanks for any input.

I had this EXACT same problem with Colton. I ended up switching him to Diamond Naturals Large Breed. I feel better about this after reading Rachael's comment on the "grading" system and this food scored a 97 "A". I know some people have a problem with feeding Diamond, but I have found that this is a decent food that has the large size kibble I need for my meathead....

EVO is the only food off that I can think of off the top of my head that makes a Large Bites and a Small Bites formula. The problem premiums food have with making 'large bites' foods is because they have less grain, it's harder to give the food more substance. Grains bind the food, so less grain equals smaller kibble size. Diamond is another good choice, especially for people on a tight budget.

We use the Nutro lg. breed food and it seems to have bigger kibble pieces than most. I've noticed both my dogs love it too.
