City has new director for animal control
GREENFIELD Mayor Brad DeReamer has hired a new director of the animal control agency that serves the city and all of Hancock County.
Wayne Guinn, 40, who has worked for the city's street department since 2000, began his new job managing the animal control department July 14. He replaces Jill Dolon, who was hired in January but left in May after losing DeReamer's confidence.
DeReamer said he focused on general management ability this time rather than looking for someone with a background of working with animals.
"The thing I'm excited about is that he came from inside," DeReamer said, offering praise for Guinn's work ethic.
Guinn, who will start his position earning $39,748, said he is eager for the opportunity to serve as a department head.
