Male cocker spaniel needs home

Kris on Activities - Tue, July 15 2008

I was out walking Deuce, Penny and Francie (aka the three stooges) last night and one of my neighbors stopped me. She had a friend who is dying of lung cancer and needs to find a home for her 8 year old black male cocker spaniel named Reggie.

Dreya, I think I'm our neighborhood animal lady. :-)

If you're interested or know of anyone interested in adopting Reggie, please PM me and I'll get you more information.

Thanks!

Congrats, Kris! You get the NAL medal today! :)

I hope Reggie finds a great new forever home. Sorry about your neighbor's friend. At least she's trying to find him a home instead of taking him straight to the shelter.

Isn't there a cocker rescue in the Indy area? I thought I saw it on Petfinder.

First off, if this dog came from reputable source, the breeder should have a re-homing clause in the puppy contract. I know my breeder does not allow their dogs to be sold or put into rescue. They help all their dogs find homes. Even at 8 years old, the breeder should be able to help.

If this is not the case, please contact Indy Cocker Haven at: indyerrandsinc@aol.com or 317-888-4353.
We met the folks that run this rescue at the ASC National show last weekend. Great People. Please do not allow this dog to go to a shelter!

Thanks, Royce. I'm not sure exactly what the situation is but I'll talk to my neighbor. I'm thinking that since the friend is dying, she probably hasn't thought about returning Reggie to his breeder. I'll definitely share that suggestion and the number to the cocker rescue group. Appreciate it!
