Back from Kentucky!

NosyRosie on My Blog - Tue, July 15 2008

We got back to Indy around midnight and it has been a busy HOUR in the house! Abigail the Basset slept the entire 3.75 hour trip and had to be coaxed out of the car! She is a cutie, with those big long ears. She's on the long, lean, skinny side. Even skinnier and leaner than ETB!

Maggie initially tried to establish her Large Marge In Charge attitude but was chased around the couch several times. Poor girl looked like a scared kitten running from Abigail! Maggie did go for the Jugular Jump that was promptly interrupted by some sort of Ninja Basset move backwards and then a big paw smack down!

I gave Abigail three baths. I had to. I know I shouldn't have because of her sutures. But she was extremely grime filled and smelled awful. Extreme sour hound covered up by groomer's spritz spray with a hint of pee. I'm not sure how to clean the area where her fur meets her nails. There's a thick coat of black that comes off if she lets me scrape. She was most definitely an outdoor dog. And not potty trained.

Oh, she apparently had a "recessed vulva?" They said there was extra saggy skin around there so they did a Girly Tuck back there in addition to the spay. Interesting...

Abigail is currently settled in our master bathroom with the baby gate up, and a piddle pad down. I will post photos sometime Tuesday. Oh, and BFFs, she came with a baby pink reflective collar!

Large Marge, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT let this new dog take over your territory. I have to keep Penny and Francie in line, so you better keep Abigail in line. You can graciously share, but don't let her take over without your permission. Got it?

She slept like a baby overnight but didn't make it outside before she peed on the carpet en route to the door. She seems to have an aversion to grass. Loves to pee on the sidewalk and the deck, though! She's also a nervous and exciteable piddler, so she's basically dribbling all the time.

Wow that sounds like an action-packed hour for sure! Way to go, Abigail, on establishing your dominance by showing off some WWE-style smackdown moves! Sorry to hear about the Girly Tuck, that must have been very uncomfortable! Makes me glad to be a boy! Welcome to Indypaws and hope to meet you real soon! BARK

I just saw the pix you posted this am.....she is adorable....those long, long ears and sad eyes. Anxious to hear Maggie's perception of Abby/Zoe.

She is absolutely adorable. I love the hang dog face and super long ears. What a cutie pie! Hope the training goes well. Sounds like everybody needs a nice long nap today since it will be too hot to do anything anyway.

I just saw her pictures. She is so adorable with those eyes and ears. I'm having trouble getting Leo house trained after living outside in a cage for four years so if you find anything new to try please share.

She sounds like a relative of my Schmoopie! A piddler! Sweet little thang.

I'm thinking we need to have a par-tay of the non-birthday kind. We can have an "open yard" for Abigail/Tilly/Millie!! When do you want to come over? Weeeeeeee!!!

HEY NOW, I'M A NERVOUS PIDDLER!!!! Mom said it is the worst possibly trait I could carry????? We've been working on it though by letting me come to mom and dad without too much reaching. I'm getting better and I'm 9 months old!!!!

****This is Maggie's mom - I feel for you on the nervous piddling! Good luck...

Maggie, what in the world were you thinking? Apparently you have no better control of your humans than the rest of us. Good luck with the sibling integration. Don't send her over here in her pink reflective collar if there are problems.

I can't wait to see our new beautiful girl in a pink glitzy necklace and maybe a glittery snood!!! BFFs unite!! AND I'm going to look into that tummy tuck thing! xoxo

PSS - you could take Abi (or what ever you decide to call her) to the Doggie Spa for Miss Shirley to clean her up for you. She is so wonderful and she would get all that stinky ucky stuff off her nails and everywhere.
