Bordatella can quickly escalate to pneumonia in dogs with compromised immune systems and young puppies. Call the vet again. The sooner they can begin treatment for the cough, the sooner Star will get better. Like Anne said, there are a lot of strains, but it can get worse depending on the patient. Star's a good healthy adult, but I would make an appointment anyway. (But I make an appointment if FiFi coughs twice, so take my advice as you will!!! :) Hope Star feels better fast.... :) PS - If it's not Star that's ill, sorry!!
We thought Nigel had kennel cough when he was a puppy and it progressed to a serious respiratory illness that required him to spend the night at the vet etc... it was terrible and i'm now overly cautious about it. i'd get Star to the vet to avoid going down the same (expensive) road that we went down!
When I was a year old, I came to live with my mama. The vet tech said since I wasn't going to be boarded (she was my petsitter), that I probably didn't need bordatella. I met a puppy that must have given it to me, because I got it. They treated it with antibiotics and I was okay. Just have your mommy get you treated for it. You'll be okay.
