Which way to Kentucky??!

NosyRosie on My Blog - Sun, July 13 2008

Just got an email that we can pick up little Miss Anna Belle on Monday if we'd like. I'm trying to map our route to Berea, KY. It's 45 minutes south of Lexington. Okay, Peeps, any advice on the best route to KY is appreciated. I have only traversed to Louisville, so I'm not very well travelled in KY. Google Maps seems to think that taking I-74 to Cincinnati and then transitioning to I-75 South is the best way. But wouldn't it be easier for me to go down I-65 to Louisville and hop over to Lexington?

I dunno...I just gotta get through the day first. I plan to get my day started early tomorrow and to be done by 3pm or so. I know it'll take at least 3 hours to get down there, pick her up and drive another 3 hours back to Indy.

One of those six one way, half-dozen the other. Either route takes about the same amount of time. I've done both and the I74/I75 route is more scenic if that makes any difference to you.

I'd suggest contacting AAA to see if there's any construction on either route and take the one that has less going on!

I've only been through KY, didn't drive and it was a long time ago. Sorry I'm no help! Good luck on finding the best way.

I think that "hop" over to Lexington is pretty long. I definitely would contact AAA about road construction. I haven't been on the I75 route for a number of years, but it was a pretty ride.

I think we're going the 65S Louisville route. All major cities (L'ville, Cincy and Lexington) have construction projects on the major highways leading into and around town, so we're going to hit construction no matter what.

I'm so excited for you! I only had to go to Terre Haute to get Cocoa but it seemed like forever. I was going to have to pick her up in Evansville but we agreed to transport a Lab to rescue for them so they met us half way. Can't wait to see pictures!

65S-hang a left in Louisville. Been there many times. I have family in Berea. You'll enjoy the Louisville to Lexington. Lots of beautiful spaces and LOTS of horse farms. Can't wait to meet Anna Belle. Have a safe trip.

Remember that the lids are water tight, so you can leave the water in it while you travel!
