Our new addition

dreya on Activities - Sat, July 12 2008

Yes. We have a new addition. I thought about titling this post "Sucker". :) That's me!

We went to the pet adoptions today, they had a kitten there from FACE. He was rescued with his sibling (who has already been adopted out) from an apartment complex where someone was throwing kittens into an industrial trash compactor. He and his sib were the two they were able to rescue.

He had his ear tipped by IACC because they thought he was feral but one of the ladies from FACE said she didn't think he was. He is very shy but has warmed up to me a bit. I carried him around for four hours at the adoptions. Half the time he was stuck under my shirt. He's hanging out in a box with a blankie in our bedroom. I gave him a little bath cause he was quite smelly. He is just the sweetest thing.

I think we are going to call him Johan. Not for sure though.

I gave all the dogs a little bit of one on one when we got home from the adoptions while Josh loved on the new kitty. I figured I'd be in the bedroom cuddling and lovin' on the kitty for the most part of the night!

Oh, and he's been neutered and had his vacs already. He looks very healthy and his eyes look great. They think he's around 2 1/2 months old.

Now, I need to figure out how I'm gonna move around my profiles to fit him in there!

Hope you all had a good Saturday!

You're surrounded by suckers here! That kitten is lucky to be on your house. I can't wait to see pictures of the little guy.

Sucker, Angel, Mom...what's the difference? :) Congrats Dreya, we're very happy for you.

I had to read and re-read the part about the trash compactor--I couldn't believe my eyes. What kind of person does that?! Are they in jail?

I think Jonah is a fitting name. Remember the story of Jonah and the whale? Well, your little Jonah was rescued from the maws of an industrial trash compactor!

Isn't that how we all acquired our furry house guests?

Congratulations!! He is adorable! I can't imagine throwing any living thing into a trash compactor! I think some people are just born with no conscience.

Indeed it is. I swear sucker is painted all over my house, because even the stray animals seem to make a beeline for it.

He is adorable, and yes, you're surrounded by "suckers" on here. I think sucker must mean a loving and caring person.

Another IP tabby! Congratulations to all the family. How is he getting along with the dogs? I personally just try to ignore them.

Yeah, I like the sound of "angel" better! :) I don't think the guy is in jail. I think they are working on a case or something. I didn't get too many details. I hope he gets what's coming to him, soon. Oh, and it's Johan, like Yo-han, although Josh said he likes Jonah now. :) We've been calling him Yo-Yo.

He has done pretty good with the minimal contact he's had with them. I've kept him in the bedroom do far. Just today he's ventured out of his box and surveyed the bedroom. He even played with some toys today. It was the milk ring that got him. :) He is just sooo tiny, I think he only weighs 4 lbs. We got him some Eagle Pack kitten and some Wellness kitten canned food to mix a little in with it. He ate almost all of it today. He is a good drinker which makes me very happy. I always worry about our cats getting enough water, that's why I change their kitchen water bowl four or five times a day! Keep em' interested. Thank you guys for all the congrats on our new baby! I love my IP friends!

I admit it. I'm the one that called her a sucker. He is an adorable little kitty though and so mellow. I'm sure he'll fit right in!

Aw...I love him! He's obviously very smart to have chosen you as his furever home. Congratulations!

Yep. I should have come to you BEFORE I took him out of his crate! Once I held him, it was all over.
