Liquid meds are much easier, aren't they? Glad Kingsley is feeling much better. When I first started reading about him, it reminded me of how a kitty in one of our litters was acting right before he died. We actually lost all but 1 of that litter. Those were the only kittens we have ever lost at it sucks. Anyway, like I said..I'm glad Kingsley is feeling better!
Yor adventures sound just like what we went through with our foster babies. Our little sick one had such a terrible eye infection form his URI that the vet thought it had errupted in it's socket. He couldn't open it it was stuck shut. He was almost euthanized... BUT the little stinker and the others got new meds and he recovered!! I think the kittens are stronger than we givem them credit for sometimes. You're doing a great job with them, they're going to be great family furkids!!
Been through that before! Feeding sick babies via syringe is no fun.
While they can get so sick so fast (much faster than adult cats), they also seem to be able to bounce back just as quickly.
As for handling the wild-man... try picking him up and holding his back to your chest (so that he's not looking at you) just briefly, then let him go. Repeat from time to time. It may help him associate you with something warm and nice instead of staring up and a big scary thing that has him captured. Worked for Theodore (Alvin's brother)!
I sympathise with your stories on eye meds. My house had this problem earlier this year. Aden has feline herpes upper respiratory infection, and when they were stressed over Christmas he gave it to Kiernan in one eye. Kiernan gave it back to Aden in one eye ho have it back to Kiernan in the other eye. It was a mess as I am sure you can imagine! At least they are well behaved cats.
I haven't let the girls see the kittens. I have the kittens in a huge dog crate in the basement bathroom. The girls stay upstairs with me. I crate the girls when I let the kittens out to play. It has worked out really well so far. After about 30 minutes or an hour of running around and playing, the kittens are ready to nap anyway, so the girls aren't crated too long.
