Kitty Karma

Boomer on Behavior - Sun, July 06 2008

Well, let's just say the past few days have been interesting. Yesterday, was a day in Cat Heaven. First, I was spoiled. Dad said something about an Adoption Anniversary. Evidently, July 3rd was the second year anniversary of when Dad adopted me. Time sure does fly. Well, because Dad was caught up in the fireworks, he postponed the gift giving (which I didn't even know about... I guess I should learn to read calendars) until after the festivities. As most of you know, Grandma spoiled me a little while back by buying me a bright yellow collar. Well, yesterday Dad said, "Boomer, after a lot of thought and consideration, I believe you are old enough to have this." From behind his back he pulled out an extendable leash and a small box with a kitty tag! I have a tag! My very own tag! Dad said he put the AL address on it since we'll be down there for some time. (By the way, Dad wanted me to ask for any suggestions on how to change my microchip address? Can it be done online?) Then the leash. Basically, he bought me this gift because everytime the humans go outside to swing or lawn work I sit at the open window and meow constantly until they come in. No, Dad usually pays me no mind and doesn't let me get whatever I want. However, he said he might be willing to give this extendable leash a try so he can control me outside. So, after having the leash on, I went outside! Now, unknown to you, I have made a friend in the outside world. His name is Buster the gray tux cat. He's an outside cat but we play through the screen door all the time. I personally like trying to catch his paw while it's on the screen. (Dad said this is a good sign for when I have a sibling.) Well, yesterday I went outside and saw him in person! He wouldn't come near me because of Dad, but still it was exciting. The cool shady grass is great! I love to roll around in mulch, and I swear to the kitty god, I scratched the biggest scratching post any cat has ever seen. Dad said it's name is Maple, but I don't care if it has a name, I'll keep scratching it. After about thirty minutes of rolling, laying, sunbathing, scratching, and doing all sorts of cat things like chasing grand daddy longlegs and bugs (don't worry, I have Advantage) it was time for dinner. Here is the shocker, for Dad told Grandpa to make me a chicken! I never recieve human food! Grandpa was grilling out chicken and I had one all to myself. After it was cooked Dad tore off all the seasoned skin and diced it up really fine for me. After about ten minutes of cooling, I was allowed to dig in! Man what a day!

It's a shame that it didn't carry over into today. It even started off terrible. This morning Grandpa gave me my Whiskas treat, but Gigi ate it all. Then I went to get a sniff of what was left over, but Gigi didn't like it so she gnarled and batted me away. Then Great Grandma and Grandpa came over, but I wasn't allowed outside. They had a dog with them and said I wouldn't be friendly company. In short, no outside adventure today, even though I whined for an hour and fifteen minutes. Then, Grandpa went to take a nap. I wanted to snuggle with him, but he closed the door on me. There's no telling what else today may bring. I guess it just follows kitty karma to have one good day and one bad day.

Quite the day, Boomz... Quite the day. Be careful on that leash. I, for one, can wriggle out of said leash when I get scared so I have to wear a harness (which, for the record, I can still wriggle out of). We don't want your Dad to lose you in 'Bama.

What a Gotcha Day you had -- presents, outside, Maple Scratch Tree, new friends and chicken! Kitty heaven on Earth.

Happy Gotcha day and congrats on scoring some outdoor freedom. I sit and whine at the back door every morning until Mom puts my harness on and allows me out on my tie-out. Our backyard is fenced in so I'm safe from invading canines. I get about two hours of freedom a day if it's nice out.

Ding dang, you had a great day!! Happy Gotcha Day, bu the way. I had some chicken this past week too! Not a whole one like you but I did get some. Mmmm, chicken. You are a brave kitty going on that leash. No way will I let mom do that. I think you can change your micorchip info online. As long as you have Boomer's chip number you can update him.

Good to have your Dad back, isn't it? AND real chicken, outside time, your very own tag (that means your Dad loves you a lot)!!!! Happy gotcha day, Boomer the cat!

I hope my Gotcha Day is that wonderful!! It is July 24th! I hope I get a chicken like you did! Mom changed our microchip address online when we moved. You can just go to the website of the company who made your chip and change it there.

Dang, Dude. You are one lucky kid! Ma has been talking about getting us a kitty walk or something we can stroll around in. I try to get outside but my mean Mama won't let me. We're so glad you had a wonderful day! Sorry that little turd Gigi stole your treat.
