There is an interesting article in the USA weekend insert that comes with the Indy Star. It's called "The Truth About Cats." Here are some tidbits from the article.
- Cats outnumber dogs by 10 million --(82 million to 72 million).
- Cats are more neglected than dogs, more often relinquished to shelters than dogs and less often taken to the vet than dogs.
-Cats often get dissed throughout popular culture. Dogs have the heroic Lassie and Rin Tin Tin, while cats have Felix (sneaky and unpredictable) and Garfield (lazy and fat).
-Far more pet owners claim their lost dogs rather than lost cats at shelters. Just 2% to 5% of lost cats at shelters are ever reclaimed.
I do find this interesting. I love both dogs and cats, but my boyfriend tries to act like he hates cats. When you ask him why, he said they pooped in his sandbox when he was a kid. His other excuse is that he said they try to suffocate you when you are sleeping. I tell him he is ridiculous.
Cats often get a bad rap and I don't understand why.
Do you remember the Stephen King movie Cat's Eye. The cat in that movie was heroic.
