That's a great idea. I took spanish for a few years in high school. I haven't really retained much of it, though. You can go to freetranslation.com and translate from english to spanish or whatever other language you prefer. ¡No haga de compras, adopta! :)

Also, when we were at one of the protests on Washington St. there was a hispanic family that stopped me and asked what we were doing. We told her about the horrors of puppy mills and she asked if she and her children could stand with us, we said of course! It was great, her kids were waving the signs and saying "say no to puppy mills!"

Translation.com is not a great place. The translations come out kind of wacky at times. I might have some connections, through my school district, who might be able to translate. Private message me, and I'll se what I can do.

That's good to know! I guess it wouldn't get the point across as well if the phrases got lost in translation.

I think websites like that (I used www.spanishdict.com, too) are good for looking up single words, but you probably need a human intuition to translate phrases that may not be word-for-word. For example "raining cats & dogs" means the same thing as "llueve en cantaras" while "llueve gatos y perros" doesn't really mean anything to a native speaker, I don't think.

My sister is fluent in spanish... In fact, she lives in Mexico w/ her Mexican born husband. She doesn't have a lot of time online though, so if anyone wants me to ask her to translate, she'll need time to respond.

I think this is a great idea! I have a daughter in law who is fluent in Spanish. I'll have her translate a couple messages we can put onto signs/banners. Probably in time for the eastside UB protest on July 12th
