Tricked and Chipped!

Carolina on Activities - Mon, June 30 2008

Yesterday started off so great!

Mom took me and a car-full of cardboard to Broad Ripple. After we dropped off the cardboard at the recycling bins we went and played with a bunch of other dogs at the park. I got a little dirty and a lot slobbery and I thought I heard Mom telling some lady about a charity dog-wash, but I was too busy chasing down a tennis ball to care.

I was good and worn out when I finally said we could go. Mom pulled into the Starbucks parking lot and I was so happy thinking I was getting a pup-cup! But she walked right past it to the Whole Foods, gave some nice people a donation, and next thing you know, I have a microchip in me and I'm in line for a BATH! Whaaa--at?

How did it all go so WRONG?!? The chipping was a breeze...Mom winced when she saw the needle. Me? I didn't feel a thing. But the BATH! What are such nice looking people doing a crazy thing like that? Mom said it was for a good cause, but I didn't see her getting lathered up in a kiddie pool. No, she just sat in the shade and laughed at the look of abject misery on my face that I did not try to hide.

So, I took one for the team. I'm still not clear on how my misery helped some dog, but if it did, you're welcome.

As for you others, watch out for those Ambush Baths!

Carolina,
My mom made me go to the charity dog wash too, but we were at a different place than you. I lucked out I did not get a bath, but I had to walk around a lot and be nice to people and let them pet me and stuff. I did get LOTS of peanut butter treats though.

I already had a chip and they read the reader over it and it showed up just fine, which made mom happy. I was sure I was going to get a bath, but Mom got to talking to her friends and she let time get away.

Oh, you mean you helped those people ambush-bathe other unsuspecting dogs?

Bat, I gotta tell you, I kinda had a thing for you. You're just so handsome in all your pictures and you seem to be a dog of substance. BUT your affiliation with the bathers changes things.

***cue the Celine Dion song*** ...And my heart will go on and aaaroooooooo on.

Gimme a sniff when you're ready to ditch the bathers.

Microchips HURT! But they are such a good thing for us dogs. That way if we are ever to get lost, we can find our parents again. Baths are probably the only thing worse than the microchipping. But can you tell us some more about that Starbucks pup cup? ; )

I had to get chipped twice because the first one wasn't under my skin enough so it slid around and you could see it. They had to put me under to cut it out and put a new one in. Second time was a charm. Mom said it's not a choice to not have one of them on us Jackies. We're too quick and too important to her.

I screamed when I got my microchip. People came from all around to see who was torturing me. But I'm glad you helped ARPO and FIDO by getting a bath.

I screamed too. Mom got me from HSI. When they took me in the back to chip me, she heard me all the way in the front hall! Mom asked if it is was me, and they said yes! I can be fairly loud and obnoxious when I want to be!
