literally, run over

Maraka on My Blog - Mon, June 30 2008

i just want to start by apologizing as this will be long, drawn out and probably even evil sounding. Also want to apologize for not being able to go to the small dog play date. here is why......

Friday was a normal day. mom came home from work and went to work out. when she came home she didnt want to cook so she had dad order pasta stuff from pizza hut. i love it when they go there. i get to go for a ride. When we get home mom is getting stuff out of the car. im over on the other side of the cars barking and talking to another dog. mom said to hurry up we had to go inside. i start to cross the parking lot and mom hollars for me to stop. she sees a car. the man in the car stops. mom thanks him and tells me to hurry up. i go around the front of the car. then the man presses his foot to the floor and i go under the car. mom is screaming for him to stop, shes dropped everything on the ground hopping for him to stop driving and get me out safely. im crying like a baby cause its hot and icky under there. the man finally stops after ten feet i scramble out the back infront of the passenger back tire. i run like heck to the closest safe place. i sit there and hear mom yell nasty things to the man in the car. he said. oh sorry. mom was so furrious but i think she was more worried about me, as she should be. she comes over to pick me up but i wont let her. im as black as night and i am just surveying the situation. mom finally picks me up apologizes and says never ever again. what ever that means, picked me up went to grab her purse and called dad. all i remember is mom saying down stairs now. dad came down and had no clue what happened. she said dont touch her dont look at her and just get us upstairs, grab dinner and go. i had never seen mom so scared, i heard the word bath. mom wanted to make sure she could see if i had any owies. she said i looked like an oil spill victim and she cried and shook while dad started bath water.
mom knew that my legs wernt bad because i ran from her. But she held me like a baby anyway. she got in the tub with me with all her clothes on too! it took her and dad a LONG time to clean me up. dad gave me a treat here and there but i was feeling good enough to try and wiggle my way out of the tub a few times. mom let me out with out drying me to see how i was moving to see if i walked funny. she told dad that she was now worried about internal bleeding as they got me back IN the bathtub for the final rub down. it took almost an hour and a half she said to get me looking like my old self again. i got more treats and all my icki blackness got rubbed on to mom. i have a couple gashes on my legs. nothing to serious i would say. mom cleaned me out with peroxide. yeah not the best in the world.
mom and dad didnt sleep well that night but i was hungry i ate almost all night long. i bark at cars now, even when they arnt moving. unless ive been in it. i know im safe there. i bark at everyone now too, exept for people with other dogs. i know they are good too. my hair stands up on my back when i hear that other dog by the fence. im only allowed on the sidewalks now. leash and collar are now a part of my daily routine. and mom said no internal bleeding as there has been nothing wrong with my poo or my potty stuffs. i do have nasty cut on my lower lip that mom is doing peroxide and neosporin she says its going to take a while to heal but i will survive. oh yeah i have a missing tooth, but we are going to see the vet this week to give me a double check up and to check on my teeth. mom said that it didnt feel broken and i may have lost it and not told anyone, or it just never grew in shes not sure.
but i just wanted everyone to know that men in blue cars in my complex are evil, and i missed the small dog play date just because mom was worried about me cause well you know.

OMG, Maraka! I'm so glad you survived that experience. My mom also learned a lesson this weekend when I nearly got hit. I sure hope you keep your collar and leash on anytime you're out. Mom used to let me out of the car to go into the house without the leash, but she doesn't anymore. I'm always on the leash when we get out of the car unless we're in the garage and the door is closed.

Take care and let us know what the vet says, okay?

I'm so glad you made it. I managed to escape mom's old fence once, and got hit, too. I'm okay now, but have a permanent limp. We don't go anywhere without a secure collar and/or harness and leashes.

Maraka, that would have scared the Bee-Jeezers out of me! I'm glad that you are ok and that your Mom wasn't hurt too! We jackies are quick ones so Mom said to tell your Mom to ALWAYS have a leash on you... just like that sign "kids Dart" we need on that says "Jackies Dart" (except I need one that also says Jackies Snark!)

mom said that for her birthday she asked for a gental leader for me or a harness that was bright orange. god why not pink. duh. oh yeah mom hurt herself pretty badly too but she didnt seem to care though i tore up her chest a bit wih my nails. but then again she still didnt seem to care. she didnt eat dinner she said it was cursed and she didnt eat until saturday either. i tried to give her part of my bone but i guess mom was kinda still in shock so i jumped on her tummy to make her get out of it! i think that mom should put a sign up too cause there was a girl in our complex that almost gets hit every day. but then again she should be on a leash too!

Never fear Madeleine. I'm fine. Mom, however, is still shaken up over the whole thing. And Daddy scolded me when he came over last night and heard about it. He said Mom would be a real mess without me and not to do that again....
