Scary News

Marci on Grief - Fri, June 27 2008

So I was out talking to a neighbor last night who lives about a block up the street. Seems in the past few weeks, her dog (outside dog) was shot twice and killed, and another neighbors dog (no information as to inside or out) bleed to death mysteriously??? She thinks she knows who killed her dog, but won't turn them in for fear of retaliation (these people don't even live in the neighborhood anymore). She also thinks the other dog's owners beat it to death, but won't turn them in, and won't tell me which house they live in!!! With the weather being how its been, I don't even know who has dogs down there anymore. How on earth are we supposed to get all of these bad people off the street, if nobody will talk???? ARGH!!!! Now I'm beyond paranoid about Sheila and Charlie, and pretty ticked at the neighbor.

That's very scary and I'd be nervous about my dogs too!

Sadly, it is very difficult to get people to discuss things like this. They should have called the police though. If nothing else, it is illegal to discharge a fire arm in city limits. If someone shot my dog, you can believe I would be doing something.

If she'd give me some information, I'd turn it in. I just wish I could do something. I was shocked she wouldn't say anything. This was a woman who gave me names, plates, and addresses of drug dealers; and she can't turn in her dog's death????

I'd still report what I knew to the police, she may give up the information when approached by the law.

If someone shot / harmed my dog...I'd be the one getting arrested.

if someone hurt any member of my family they forfit their life. I am very protective of all my family. I have been told I am very over protective but oh well. Hurt my family and pay the price. If I knew who was hurting canines I would not even think about not calling in the police. You can always make an anonamise call. Good luck.

Do you think it was someone she turned in previously getting revenge? She's just scared right now. Our justice system is severly lacking when it comes to animals. She's probably afraid the person either won't be punished at all or will get a very light sentence and then come after her or her family. Also, if it is someone she turned in previously, she may feel responsible for the dog's death. The guilt may be enough to make her feel she shouldn't get involved in anything else.

I can't tell you what I would do if someone did that to my girls. I think I would lose it. I love my dogs more than some people love their children! The person who did it just better hope all the Dalai Lama books and Ghandi quotes I've read come to mind before the redneck in me starts reacting!!

I really doubt that this is due to past retaliation. All parties are in Federal prision, and have no idea she was involved. I'm a firm believer in Karma myself! At some point, they will pay for their behaviour. I just wish it were sooner, rather than later!

This is so terrible. Something has to be done about it. We don't let our dogs go out alone anymore and almost never in the front yard. People are sick and unless someone calls the cops it's never going to stop. We had a kid in the neighborhood tell us about someone stealing a dog out of it's yard and dropping it off a bridge nearby and that freaked us out. Patrick told the kid that if anyone ever touched our dogs he wouldn't think twice about going to jail for whatever he felt like he needed to do. .... Well that is the nicest way to put what he said.
