Get A LIFE - Response to prior p

Pearlie Girl on Breeds - Wed, June 13 2007

Please stop complaining that I should get her spayed. It IS MY CHOICE. I signed up here to try to meet others with a dog similar to mine. I did not sign up to be put down, told that I should not do what I want to do and given free advice about FACE which is a spay/neuter puppy mill. Once I decide to have her spayed after her litter, I will take her somewhere that cares about the dog not just getting them through the process.

I was hoping this would be a great place to just chat with others. I see it is just a place for people to complain and over express their views.

I AGREE...if it was not for breeders i would not be HERE! My mom wanted me SOOOO Badly that she drove 5 hours to get me! She knows that there are plenty of dogs out there that are in need of homes, and one day she will have one or two or three, but for her first she wanted a baby of her own and a breed that she is very comfortable with. Whats so wrong with that? I mean, because she knows Danes then she is less likely to give me up! She dont know anything about a lab, or poodle, or a little yapper dog that looks like a hotdog...so BREED ON!! i hope everything goes well!!

well, unfortunately, when you post something to the internet, you have it out there for all to see and read. since this is a public forum, anyone who wants can read and comment. if you want to advertise for breeding your pet, i encourage you to contact the INDY STAR and you can do so in their classified adds. i've seen way worse on other boards, so count yourself lucky on what comments you did get. i did not find any offensive, and obviously our site manager did not either. have a great evening! :)

my mommy breeeds and shows English Bulldogs as well as works for a vet.... as long as you are a healthy, breed standard, healthy dog, have some babbies! You can bless other families the way your mommy and been blessed with you! If you have any genetic health problems that you may pass on to you puppies, than you should not have puppies. And I agree with you about FACE! Go to a clinic that will care enough about you to do pre-surgical bloodwork, send you home on pain medicine and even offer you an EKC to check your heart out before your spay! Its a serrious deal!

Unfortunately, you hit the site at a point where there was a lot of frustration about it being used as a breeding match site, including by people who wanted to make money. A lot of regulars were upset by this, and your post was the straw that broke the camel's back.

As for FACE -- we don't ask people what kind of budgets they have for pet care. But many folks are put off by the costs of spay/neuter surgeries, so we frequently recommend it. I see FACE as a clean, well-operated clinic serving a critical need.

We'd love to talk training, grooming, and behavior issues with you. We'd love to talk about spoiling our pets. I equate the breed/fix debate to the "mommy wars" that creeps up among career women and stay-at-home moms. No one is going to budge on their strongly held opinions. But we can still chat about other stuff!

Ok listen Pearlie, so many animals including dogs die each day in shelters. Thats because they are running out out laces to put the PUPPIES THAT DIDN"T GET SOLD AT A PUPPY MILL or other things. But Breeding is the main reason so many animals die each day. Think about it, you could cause a dog to die if you don't sell those puppies. But you are right it is your opinion, I have nothing agaist it, just wanted to give you a couple of FACTS before you breed.

Although there is nothing wrong with breeding or getting altered, it is best to have all the information that is needed to make sure that the puppies go to a good home. If you decide not to spay, make sure that the proper precautions are taken during the heat cycle to ensure that you do not have unwanted puppies. I personally prefer alteration for the simple fact that it calms me and my sister down. We have a lot less behavior problems now, as well as some health benefits. She doesn't have to worry about cysts and I don't have to worry about being overly agressive.
Also please remember that your personal opinion on a public site can be criticized so try not to get upset.
