We won't eat it!

Oreo on Nutrition - Fri, June 27 2008

My vet gave me some fish oil for my flakey skin. Mom squirted it on our food and we will not eat the food out of that bowl.

She doesn't understand us. We LOVE tuna and fish so why aren't we inhaling this food with the fish oil on it? Cookie and Pearlie want nothing to do with it, either. We don't mind Ultra Oil, so why is this so offensive to us? Any ideas?

I give my cats salmon oil, which they liked better than plain cold water fish oil (which is usually cod). I buy it from the people supplement section. It's a lot less expensive that way.

But, you could also just feed them bits of salmon or similar Omega 3 fatty acid fish. You might also look into feeding some Bravo. My cats like it so much I just squirt the fish oil into the Bravo and away they go. Bravo is a raw processed food.

I'd love to switch thier food but Oreo has had some serious issues with crystals in hins urine. Because of this they ALL eat Royal Canin Urinary S/O. I don't want to chance him having this problem again. Since he's been on this he's been fine. I'll check on the salmon oil.

I remember when you first mentioned that Oreo didn't seem to like the new fish oil and I wondered the same thing, cats like fish, right?

Sorry, I have no useful answers. I was just commisserating with you.

My critters are only so-so about fish, now chicken on the other hand... They'd do just about ANYTHING for it. They aren't interested in food sprinkled w/ fish oil if I don't get the 'deodorized' version (in the people section).
