Okay now, I like to think of myself as enlightened and accepting, but a girl's gotta have her space. I've come to terms with having to share the trees with the squirrels. I mean, they can have the trees as long as they stay off the fence and the grass.
This summer I've seen all kinds of critters:
Chipmunks; now those are fun to chase.
Ducks; why are they doing in my yard?! There's nothing duck-friendly in my yard.
Bunnies; they nibble on mom's flowers, and they are really good for chasing--no escaping up a tree, but they have emergency exits in my fence somewhere, .
Deer; we're in the suburbs for gosh sakes--guess they didn't get the memo!
And last night, I discovered RACCOONS! We heard all kinds of rustling and twigs snapping in the far corner of the yard. Turns out there were 4 baby raccoons climbing around in the trees. One of our trees has these big fat blackberry-like fruit and they were climbing around and eating all the berries. I whined to let me at them, but mom said to leave them. Party pooper.
What's next? The Tasmanian Devil? I suppose Mom will want me to leave them alone, too.
