Plant Party Fundraiser

Lynn on Activities - Tue, June 24 2008

Hi All, Just a little reminder about the Plant Party Fundraiser this weekend. I hope to meet lots of new IP parents. I did a bit of research and the rental fees on shelters at Garfield park run between $75 - $100. That's bit steep for my budget on such short notice. I've got a card table I'm bringing to set the refreshments on and a comfy camp chair. I'm going to look for a nice big shady spot near parking to setup in the Southwest corner of the park. That's the area between the playground and the MacAllister Center for Performing Arts. Hope so see you there. Bring the plants that your bored of, have thinned out, seedlings that you won't need or refreshments to share. Oh don't forget a chair or blanket to sit on.
I drive a little red Cobalt and will have a day-glo orange sign on the refreshments table. Hopefully you won't be able to miss me :)

When: 4:30 pm Saturday, June 28th

Where: Southwest corner of Garfield Park

Why: to raise money to donate to a local animal wellfare organization.

Cost: minimum $5 donation per person.

The more the merrier, bring a friend or two.

Hey, Lynn. I've got some tables I can bring that set up easily. And a bunch of plants that I forgot I could dig up, divide, etc. Some that are kind of unusual, and I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone else brings to trade! Let's hope for a beautiful day like today.

That would be great Mama M! I'm definitely praying for beautiful weather.

How about asking if a few people could bring their foster dogs and show them off to the folks in the park? And with IACC just down the street from Garfield Park, you might be able to get a couple of volunteers to bring dogs up. Not only will the dogs get some exposure, but your sale will be more visible if you've got a bunch of dogs hangin' around that everyone will want to pet. :)

I don't have any plant starts, but I could go to my friends house and get some lilac bush starts. Lynn, I'm old, so please remind me of this again later in the week....lol.

Furbabies and foster-furbabies are welcome. You don't have to bring plants if you don't have any to participate in the plant swap. Bring a jug of lemonade or iced tea something simple and inexpensive. I was planning on updating this post at least once a day until Saturday so it'd still show up on the IP radar.

Have you decided yet which organization the funds will help?

Not yet. I figured everyone who attends could hold a majority rules vote on who our money goes to. I was thinking Lil' bit of Heaven rescue in Martinsville that had a lot of flood damage. It's open to suggestion.
