Hiking

Peanut on Fitness - Mon, June 23 2008

I just moved to the North side or Indy (near 96th & Meridian) and am really bummed about the lack of parks! Where can I go hiking on hilly trails in the woods- or even swim in a lake? Also, are there any good, yet free, dog parks in the area?

Peanut, it'd be a bit of a drive for your parents, but we swear by Ft. Harrison state park. Its just north of 56th and Post road. Lots of trails, a creek, a fishing pond, and a duck pond. There is no off-leash allowed, but mom just takes our 25 ft long lines. We use those when we get to places without many people. Hopefully, someone up your way has some good ideas for you.

Thanks Sheila! My parents decided it wasn't too far away- and they are taking me today!
