Deck moster encounter

Hoover on Behavior - Thu, June 19 2008

Lola wants me to post about this because if it had happened to her, she would never go outside again. I see her shuddering as I'm writing this.

I was sitting in my ususal corner spot on the deck. It's against the house sort of under the grill. I was almost asleep, mind you when something touched my butt fur from underneath the deck!! I jumped up so fast that I smacked the grill which made an awful thundering aluminum sound. THAT scared me and I tripped over my own feet landing on my side. I did one of those cartoon no-traction-trying-to-run moves and bolted off that deck.

This is a monster, I have no doubt. It seems to like to taunt us and then run away. I am thinking about moving. This neighborhood is getting weird. The yak down the street and now this. I can not take much more. I even puked yesterday in the grass, I was so distraut.

As Lola said, and I'm not too proud to ask this... if there are any very brave dogs who would like to catch this thing, please come over.

OH my gosh Hoovie I would have done the same thing if something reached out & grabbed me! Wow. I'm almost too scared to go outside- I mean, what if this monster travels??? We don't live that far from you- it could happen! BTW, mommy wants me to tell you that she laughed until she cried when she read your story....she's so mean, isn't she??? Finding humor in someone's horror. Good grief.

I'd really like to come help you guys out. Mom plays monster under the covers with me, and I get that monster every time. Now, to find a way to get over there to help you guys.

Uh, sorry. I'm kind of a wimp. But, I could send Charlie over! He probably won't actually catch the monster, but he could bark at it real mean like. Yeah, and Mama laughed real hard too when she read your post, Hoovie!

No reason to be afraid. Office Chase will come over and apprehend the perpetrator for you. I'm sure it's breaking some kind of laws and will require imprisonment. Piece of cake to catch it. I'll be over after the block captain meeting cuz dad might need my help with it.

You'd fit under the deck, Chase. Are you sure you won't be afraid?

Pick me, Pick me. I love to chase things under the deck. I'll bet it is a chipmunk! I love to chase them. Can I keep it if I catch it?

Penny and I will be right over. Our barks are so frighteningly loud and fierce, we'd scare that thing away with no problem.

There was a red fox in our neighborhood. I didn't see him, but a neighbor warned Mama.
