OT-I'm frustrated and annoyed!

Dachsaholic on My Blog - Wed, June 18 2008

Just taking a little "me" time to vent at lunch. I was told several months ago that my job was being outsourced but given no idea of when or how it was going to happen. I have 9 people that work for me who were also going to be in the same boat so I felt like I had to tell them. I did and they appreciated it(the company wanted to mail them letters!!!)but they are out there hanging in the air with me. It's so frustrating to know something is going to happen but have no idea when. I had a meeting last week with someone else and I was told that we wouldn't be outsourced, just under a different entity. That sounds great and was a positive thing for all of us to hear. I have a meeting July 9th to find out more specifics. In the meantime, my assistant has found another job but has stayed on 1 day a week to help me. Today she says she doesn't want to stay on any longer. She would rather have the free time than the extra money. One of my full time supervisors has been out on medical leave since last August or September and I have no idea when she will be back. Luckily one of the part timers has stepped up and helped out all this time. Now my other supervisor had some testing done on Monday, a procedure yesterday and I just found out she will be off for at least 3 weeks to recover. How can I do my job, my assistant's job, both supervisors jobs and not go crazy?!?!?!? I just bought some Rescue Remedy last night and I'm wishing I had it here with me. My head is about to split apart right now. I have been looking for another job but I figured I would wait until after the 9th to make a permanent decision. Now I want to go turn my resignation in right now and go home and have a good cry. I guess when it rains, it pours. I really want to go back to working with animals but the pay isn't that great and I have quite a few of my own that I have to support. I guess I better stop and get a lottery ticket on the way home tonight. Thanks for listening to me whine.

I really feel bad for you and I do not have any advice. I would just hang in there and see what happens July 9th. and pray for a winning lottery ticket.

I have friends who have been living with the outsourcing black cloud for about a year now. It's no fun. Keep your chin up, it will get better and work out.

Take a deep breath. When you leave work, leave your work there. Enjoy your time at home. I know this is easier said than done. The thing is you can not do every thing but only the best you can. Things will go better if you just relax. I know when I get my undies in a bunch, things do not go smoothly and I end up exhausted. I do not blame you for looking for another job. Good luck.

Vent away, young lady! It's frustrating and you have the right to vent. I don't have any helpful words for you either, but I'll pray for you, okay?

You're having a day like I had yesterday! I had a BIG margarita last night, laid around and did NOTHING! I sure feel better today. I'm with you. I would love to work with animals again, but I can't afford to. I'm going back to school. I hope to get a business degree and earn 6-figures to run an animal shelter! Do you think that could happen for me?! Maybe there's a fairy godmother somewhere. ;) I bought a lottery ticket too, girl!

What a mess they have left you in! I will have a Mike's Hard Lime in sympathy for you when I get home. Maybe the HSI directorship will open up for you...

You poor thing. Can't you do everything? Just kidding. I'm sorry they're doing this to you. Don't blame you for looking for another job, though..

I just found a drink recipe called a Sangre de Frase (Strawberry Sangria) and I'm dying to try it on someone, come over after you do all those people's jobs and I'll make one (or two or a pitcher) for you. I'm also making firecracker shrimp. Food and drink always make me feel better.

Hey, this is a great place to vent because you know you're among friends. Believe me, things are tough everywhere you go, whether it's jobs, gas, food, whatever. So we definitely do need to vent when things seem to become overwhelming for us. Sometimes just a good cry will release some of the tension. As others have said, hug your kids & that'll make you smile. And, try to take it just one step at a time. I know you're Italian/American, and I'm Irish/American, so I think worrying for us is genetic. Keep smilin' friend.

Well, now to cure myself I'm leaving work and heading to volunteer orientation at Animal Control! how's that for throwing a match on the fire?
