I think my hubby's a foster failure

Dachsaholic on My Blog - Mon, June 16 2008

I think I'm going to have to trade in my hubby for a newer model or something. He's leaning towards being a foster failure. He's already failed once with Chase. I took Chase in from someone that needed him out of the house ASAP. My dad had been hit by a car a few months before and was still in rehab. I was staying at his house and taking care of Pebbs and Pabs since he wasn't home. We had only been married a few months so I didn't have all my stuff moved into our house yet. I took Chase but I told Jerry he had to keep him up there to keep him away from the other dogs until he could be vetted and evaluated. I found him a home a month or so later and Jerry got this sad face. I asked him if he wanted to keep him and he just lit up and said Yes. He said that they had bonded while I was gone. So I gave in since we had no pets at our house at that time. He hasn't really wanted to keep any other foster until now. Sweetie is dad's little girl. She sits in the crook of his arm or behind his back if he's on the computer. I have some cute pics of it that I need to upload. She loves to snuggle and gets up against him in bed. I think he's fallen hook, line and sinker. I keep trying to explain that she's a foster and they're not fosters if they don't leave. Also, he said 3 permanents was it. He tells Sweetie that he would let her stay but that I keep saying No. I asked him about it last night and he says he loves her but he knows if she stays, we can't help other dogs that need it more. Basically he's parroting back everything that I have said about her. Doesn't somebody on here want to adopt her so she can stay in the IP family? Maybe he would feel better about it. I have to check with Dayzee's family to see if they're still interested. I think she should go live with her BFF Maggie! My poor hubby-what a failure. I don't want to break his heart but he won't make a decision one way or the other. I love her too but she will be so easy to place. She does fit in well around here and it's nice for Chase to have somebody to run around with. Maybe I should kick him out so I have more room for dogs☺ Well, I better get back to work to make money for more glue to stick the dogs' mouth shut-lol!

Well, you do have a dilemma. That's how Luna came to stay with us. We found a perfect person who would take her and give her a great home, but Papa M. said he just really didn't want to give her up. The good thing is that Sweetie is young and adorable, and would be easy to place. BUT...we wouldn't have to read Chase's blogs about the "f" word continuing at your house. Somehow I just can't imagine you guys without a foster dog.

Lol! I think Maggie should have Sweetie as a sister. That would be awesome!! BFFs become siblings.

I'm still workin' on it Monica. We were heartbroken when Duke the big weiner left last week and Maggie cried at the door for about 10 minutes. She definitely needs a buddy.

I can't really say much. My one and only time fostering resulted in Mr. Yogi Man, and he's still here three years later. I don't know how you all do it. There's a special place in heaven for fosters.

PLEASE take our BFF in, Maggie Moo's mom!! I'd love for her to stay here with me but we're pretty full...

I think it's so sweet how Jerry fell in love with her. You're lucky to have such a sweet guy! She is a really pretty baby. When I saw her at Lola's B-day party, I thought it was going to be hard to give her up!! Plus, like OH MY GOD, who would think of splitting up the BFFs! :)

My husband is a lot like that too.....it was his love of animals and family that attracted me to him in the beginning.
