New Kitty Behavior

Mama T on Behavior - Thu, June 12 2008

As you all know, we've brought a new kitten into the house in the last two weeks and something strange has happened to Baby. Prior to Dixie arriving, she was a wild woman. Ran, played, jumped...just a crazy cat. Now since the arrival of Dixie, she's completely calm. She doesn't pester Ernest and play tag. She's become "Mama" to Dixie. They nap together, play together. She'll let Dixie eat before she does which is pretty brave seeing as Dixie is part piglet. It's quite adorable although I do miss the 6AM crazy cat run and I think Ernest misses their evening games of tag. She hadn't even some to the steps for treats until today. I just found her mothering instincts amazing seeing as she has been by herself or around ETB for the first year of her life.

Just wanted to share. We've become one happy little family out here--

aw.. how sweet. Enjoy it while it lasts because once little Dixie gets the feel for things, you'll have two 6am crazy cats and ETB will have that bat signal on full power!

Patches becomes very motherly whenever I have foster kittens. It actually comes in handy when socializing and litter training the wee feral ones... They always LOVE her, and when they see that she loves attention from me, they quickly become friendly towards me.

Cookie and I also became very protective and parental when Pearle was officially ours. Cookie, especailly. Pearle almost never left his side. I'm glad you're all getting along. It's so sweet to watch everyone interact.

Baby's such a good motherly kitty! Charlie "mothers" us, too. He's a big ol' sweetie.
