Flea/Heartworm Meds

♥Zoe♥ on Health - Tue, June 10 2008

Momma took me to the vet this weekend for my annual check up. My vet put me on new flea/heartworm meds. I am now on Revolution. Before I was on interceptor all year and Frontline Plus during flea season. I am a pampered indoor pooch so I am not exposed to much and I have never had a flea or tick. Momma was just wondering if you IP folks had any good/bad experience with Revolution. I got my first dose last night and it is much easier than the other stuff. Not so much fluid (like the Frontline) and no yucky pills for Momma to make me swallow!!!

We have never had Revolution. We go outside a lot so we use Frontline and Interceptor like you used to do. But Mom says she has heard good things about the medication...you should be fine since you stay indoors most of the time.

Dr. Short perscribed it to us when my bunnies had a lice type bug. She said to put it on everybody. Seemed to work well. It's a little too expensive for us since we just use generic heartguard and then advantage flea control when needed (and of course, Jude doesn't get fleas :)) It did take care of the bunny bugs and none of other animals were affected.

We use Revolution during the winter months, but just switched to advantix (sp) and heartguard for the summer. Revolution doesn't protect against ticks and we spend a lot of time up in Michigan and in the outdoors during the summer so our vet recommended a summer switch.

Otherwise, I've been happy with Revolution - it is so easy that it is an all in one. we'll switch back once the weather cools off.

We're on Frontline and Interceptor. We hike and travel, so mom doesn't want to take any chances with ticks.

Mommy has always used Brewers Yeast and Garlic on all of us. There has never been a flea problem here. I am not one to be out much either but, the others were. They have gone to the Rainbow Bridge now. Both Fe-Lions get a tab of it too even though they never go out. Brewers Yeast and Garlic is to help with the coat as well.

We are on Frontline. We had Promeris, but it made us lethargic and the smell was worse than horrible. Mom asked the vet if we could switch back to Frontline, so we did.
