OT: Goldfinches?

Judi on Health - Tue, June 10 2008

I've been noticing that I haven't had hardly any goldfinches at my bird feeder this year- and when I mentioned that to my mom last night, she said she noticed the same thing- although she lives in Minnesota. Has anyone heard anything about a problem with the goldfinch population? Just curious-- I really love those cuties and their "cheery" call.

We have a thistle feeder and I don't think I've seen 1 goldfinch on it. Interesting...I'd like to see what people say.

Hmmm, I saw a few yesterday in the back yard hanging out on the hanging plant hooks but with the birdfeeder out front, I've been seening LOTS of Bluejays and Cardinals that I don't normally see as much. Maybe it's the food, but they seem more plentiful than normal. Our finch feeder broke and we haven't replaced it.

i've seen a good amount but less than usual, but i like to chase them so that might be a problem i have seen lots of unusual birds like cardinals, finches etc.

All I have to say is keep the cats away!
