revenge spraying

Izzy on Behavior - Mon, June 09 2008

First my mean old Mom wouldn't let me outside anymore then she built our "prison" and now she changed our type of litter! Enough is enough, I'll show her. Revenge is on my mind and marking the whole house is my plan. I started maybe two weeks ago by pooping just outside the edge of the garage litterbox. Then I started peeing on the dirty laundry laying on the bathroom floor. Then this morning Mom caught me gettng ready to pee in her closet. Mom bought that UTI indicator litter and that came back negative. So now she's getting frustrated w/ having to come home and sniff around the whole house looking for my latest act of vengence. Lynn here: I'm using vinegar, hot water and era to neutralize the stink on our laundry. Bleach to clean up the linoleum floor. And vinegar w/ oxiclean spot cleaner to clean up the carpeting. I used to use clumping litter but recently switched to kaykob small animal bedding. I found something called litter attractanr and was going to give it a try. If anyone has any suggestions please, I'm all ears.

I have a hunch Izzy doesn't like that new litter. Try going back to your original kind and see if the spraying stops. Is there a reason you switched or did you just want to try it?

You definitely did something to rock the apple cart. There is nothing worse than cat pee/spray. I am a big fan of Nature's Miracle. You can wash your laundry with it and I believe it is safe on all surfaces. It's a one-stop shop for getting rid of the smell and stain.

I decided to try and find a more eco friendly litter since we have four kitties, that equals a lot of cat waste. I've tried the swheat scoop, feline pine, etc and decided against them all for one reason or another. First I was concerned she had UTI once that was ruled out. I thought this was retaliation for no longer being allowed outside. Izzy was born feral, I've seen her parents and new kittens that look just like her. Either way it's nasty and is a behavior that needs to be nipped ASAP.
