Scary storm

Nicholas James on Grief - Mon, June 02 2008

Okay, so I know I am probably really late to this but how many of you were absolutely terrified Friday night? There is nothing Mom can do to calm me down. Do you guys have any suggestions for these freakishly scary storms???

Sorry, I don't have any advice for you. None of us get wigged out at all. We just sit around like it's anoy other night.

I was completely out of it with fright Friday. Mom's not been able to get me under control for 8 years, so don't ask her for advice. I just shake and pant.

My friend has a Jack Russell and her vet gave her a pill scrip to calm him on days that she knows storms are coming. I don't know what it is though. It doesn't turn him into a zombie or anything he is still frightened but he settles next to her or will sleep in his bed. He used to tear apart the house he went so bonkers with the storms. I suggest your Mom talks to the 'evil' vet!

Last night's storm was really bad! There was so much lightning and the thunder was really loud. There were a couple times all three of us jumped at the thunder! Normally, my girls could care less, but last night made Minnie a little nervous. She was up and down, looking toward the window. Normally, she would just cuddle up to me and not move until morning.

I wasn't scared on Friday...or last night! The only thing that scared me was that on Friday Mom and Aunt Stephie kept screaming and then Dad's fire pager kept going off because he was on runs all night; which did not make Mom or Aunt Stephie (both of which take care of firefighters....yes take care of...Mom says they are handfuls...especially the Irish ones.) Anyways...last night Mom and Dad did not move an inch during the storm I really thought they were dead. I dont mind the storms but my cousin Sparky does.....the vet saud it actually gives us dogs headaches because of the change in air pressure so he gave Sparky some meds which doesn't make him a dog zombie but it helps keep him normal.....so maybe talk to your doc about that. Another thing Mom tried with Sparky is having all the family members in one room so he knows everyone is safe with him....that helps too.
