Oops, mom was wrong

Sweet Tart North on Health - Wed, May 28 2008

Well, I found out that my foster mom isn't always right although she tells dad that she is. Right after I came to live here, I went to the vet. I have a scar on my abdomen and he said that I must have had a C-section and possibly been spayed as well. Mom thought that I had been since the original breeder didn't want me back when my owner wanted to return me and that her vet wouldn't give her any info. The place I came from in Missouri said that I was a "free whelper" and never had a C section(very important info since I was bought to be a breeder). That was a lie since I have the scar from it. Anyways, I have been in Indiana since November and no heat so mom thought I was spayed. Tricked her though! Now I'm driving the boys crazy even though neither one of them can do anything about it. Mom said she forgot how much she dislikes having an intact female dog. Good thing is that I'm little so it's not that big of a mess. Dad acted all goofy tonight and told mom there was blood in my pen. Well, duh-that's part of being in heat. Mom says that he must not have realized what that meant:-) Mom says I'm heading for some big surgery soon. I'm not sure what she's talking about but I don't like the sounds of it. She promised that I'll never have to have puppies again which is good because I wasn't really that good of a mother. Good news is that I get to stay here a little longer. I was just about to be put on Petfinder but I've gotten a reprieve. So, I don't feel too bad but I am a little bloated and I would like some wine and chocolate.

Hang in there, Sweet Tart! It'll be okay soon. You have a wonderful foster family. My little scar from gettin' "fixed" doesn't even show anymore and then you won't have to deal with that bloating, craving problem...heehee!

that surgery stinks but afterwards, you get lots of cuddles and hugs and treats. Not having to go thru it again is WELL worth it.

I had puppies before mom got me. No fun! I'm glad to be spayed! Mom says she wishes they would've spayed her instead of just tying her tubes. She could do without the bloating, cravings and mood swings!!

You're right about your mom. I was spayed a few years ago and I am a big advocate of spaying for intact females:-) It's the best thing I ever had done! Now if I could get hubby neutered it would all be good. I feel so bad for poor Sweetie. I really thought she was spayed because of the scar and the breeder's refusal to take her back. Oh well, she will be soon. I'm just glad she didn't get adopted yet. What an unhappy surprise that would have been(if they had even noticed it).

You're just a puppy yourself, Sweetie!! I can't imagine having to get all huge with puppies and then have to birth them and nurse..oh my gosh. My spay scar is really light. My mom and sis love to play with my tummy 'cause it's so soft and squishy. I even get tummy kisses!

Well, Daphne and I have been spayed, but we don't think Momma has been. Really though, I think she's way too old to have puppies, (oops, I mean kids). Like Momma is ancient, 'cuz back in her day they didn't have cell phones, or computers, or iPods......how did they survive? Old, old, old.....uh oh, I think I'm going to get in trouble!!!!!

Well, that's just weird. I KNOW I commented on this post earlier today. Things have been acting up again. Anyway. Well, that's a "nice" surprise! You and your Ma deserve some wine and chocolate!

Heehee, I'm imagining all the boys at your house going more nuts. "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard..."

Thanks Lola. I've already had at least one litter and I"m not even two yet. Mom thinks maybe my heat was delayed because I was so unhealthy. She says that women that are too skinny can "lose" their periods so maybe that's what happened to me. I already have one scar so maybe they can go in the same place. That way I can still wear my bikini. My aunt Paula is going to get spayed next month. Maybe we can get a two for one deal?

Lady P, I'm always going to giggle when I see your serious profile pic and imagine you singing Milkshake.
