when im outside and someone comes up that i dont know i sure will bark at them and then run after them. but when they turn around to pet me i cower down and piddle. i even bark when the little kids are around and i dont like when the hit each other I bark to tell them to stop. inside on the other hand. when dad and mom play together i make sure they KNOW im not messing around you dont mess with my mommy. i bark and nibble at daddys arms to tell him to back off! then i give mommy kisses to make sure shes ok.
Oh No! Mom hates firecrackers..I mean she really hates them. Kids threw firecrackers at her other dog, Whiplash. After that poor Whiplash was afraid of any and all loud noises. It was so sad to see Whiplash with all of that fear and pain. I don't like then either because they remind me of gun fire. So just call me chicken-little.....but if you come to my front door, I'll let mom know that you are there for sure. I scared off two salesmen this week.
Oh no! Poor Whiplash! What horrible kids! I was relieved to see the Dad was watching the boys with the firecrackers...I dunno I guess they're getting geared up for the race or Memorial Day. Either way, it is not going to be a fun day for Scaredy Cack. I wonder if they make Doggy Ear Plugs.
I honestly feel much safer having Madison with me, even though she only weighs fourteen pounds.
I am comforted when she barks at a suspicious noise outside. I know a lot of people discourage barking from their dogs, but I like it when Maddy barks at something she deems threatening. Also, once she and I were home alone and I had just stepped out of the shower. The bathroom door was open and she was licking the water off of my toes as I was drying off. Eddie had come home from work and quietly entered the apartment so neither of us heard him come in but when he said something, startling both of us, she whirled around in a frenzy of barks and rushed at him... Then she realized it was just dad. lol But it really made me feel so proud of her that if it had been a real intruder, she would have defended me. (Or at least tried.)
Funny story now that you mentioned it. In our livingroom we have a big picture window with two smaller ones on each side. The smaller windows can raise up and have screens. A couple of weeks ago dad opened up the smaller ones and I saw the (evil) mailman walking his rounds. When he came up to MY house I started barking and put my paws on the screen. It popped out and I scared that mailman so much that he dropped the mail and ran. hee hee. My dad was there and pulled me back because I had my head sticking out of the window. Now they have a gate in front of the window when they open the windows so it can't happen again. I was just helping ward off the evil mailman bring letters from some evil guy named Bill. He seems to take all my parents money and there seems to be less and less money to buy me stuff. :)
You're not barking 'cuz you know it's mom and dad, right?
LOL! Can you imagine how scared the mailman must have been to see your huge barking head coming out of a window?! LOL! My sister's rottie (Kaya) has a big deep bark, but she's a total fraidy cat. One day at a local park, my niece (4 years old) and Kaya were playing when a couple of dogs started running towards them. Kaya didn't cower or become submissive, instead she quietly positioned herself between my niece and the oncoming dogs kinda drawing a line in the sand. The dogs slowed down and the owners caught up, but I thought it was really cool that Kaya turned into a protector around my neice.
I'll bark if someone knocks on the door. I used to just go and look at Mama and then look at the door as if to say...Ummmm, someone's knocking. I used to like fireworks but last year they were a little close and they freaked me out. Mama let me go in the house. I've yet to have to protect Mama but I know I could, I am a Ninja, ya know.
Godzilla does the same with me when we are out in public. He will come stand in front of me quietly and watch if another dog or person comes toward us too quickly.
