Hi, guys. Raspberry from Cats Haven here again. We got a call yesterday from a woman who had found a badly injured cat. She found him in the Lafayette Square area, and she took him to VCA on West 86th Street. He has a terrible wound on his left hip, and an infection in his right front paw. No microchip, but he was tested for FIV/FLV and is negative. He's been at VCA for several days now and is doing well. He's very friendly and loves being petted, and will eventually make a great pet. But his injury is going to take a long time to heal.
This little guy, whose name is Zephyr, needs two things . . . help with his vet bill (which is now just over $500) and a foster home when he's ready to leave the clinic. The lady who found and helped him cannot take him, and she is on disability with a very limited income. The nature of his injury is such that someone with wound experience (like a vet tech, maybe?) would make the best foster parent for him. He will need to have his dressing changed regularly, and this injury isn't your typical boo-boo. We are so crowded at Cats Haven right now that we can't take him in and all of our foster homes are full, but we are putting money towards his vet bill, and I encourage anyone who can help to do the same.
If you can help with Zephyr's vet bill (even $5 will help . . . it all adds up!), or if you have had severe wound experience and might like to foster this baby, please call VCA at 317-872-0200. Thank you so very much. His rescuer did the right thing by helping him, but she had no idea how expensive vet care like this can be. Again, thank you for your help with Zephyr. He's a deserving soul. :) Raspberry
