First time to the vet!

Skittles on My Blog - Tue, June 12 2007

Well about 10 days ago I went to my first vet visit. Mom kept finally made the appointment. I kept hearing about this "vet" thing for a week before my visit. I knew things were going to get interesting when she said they were gonna look at ears. She has been telling me to stop digging at my ears or they, (the vet), would make me wear a "space man helmet". Now, I have no idea what that is, but I dont like wearing ANYTHING.

So after a very stressfull ride in the car that growls at me, we arrived. Mom had to put me in the cage just to take me inside the building with the funny smell. When we got inside there were two dogs so the I think all in all the cage was a good idea. I would hate to have to hurt some dog today.

Well after the nurse took my weight 6.2 lbs. Which is less than Fluff, but we all know that w/o all her fur I am soooo bigger than she is!

Then the vet lady came in and gave me some good rubbins and scratchies. She was very nice! She said that my coat..i guess that means fur, was in excellent condition. (See mom...I am clean)

She also said that I was very strong and healthy and that my teeth were nice! Mom was so proud! Mom kept giving me kisses and telling me I was a good kitty! Im glad my mom was with me!

So everything we going well, till mom...(did I say I was glad she was with me?) Had to mention the ears! So the vet lady took a q-tip out. I got excited. Those are great to play with! Well this was not being used for play! She put it in my ear!!! Then, as if it wasnt bad enough she put it in the other ear! I guess I have ear mites, and thats why my ears ich!

So after my ears were messed with, it came time for shots! (shudder) The first one came and I whipped my head around and looked at the vet lady. Then two more!!! I guess this is a good thing. Mommy kept telling me I had to get shots to keep me from getting sick, but this is terrible!!!

So then the vet takes out this thing and starts to rub my paws. I was thinking, "ooo..paw rubbins!..I like these" Ohhhh no! She cut my nails! I didnt fight or anything, but it was not fun! Mommy kept telling me I was good kitty, so i guess its okay. She would never hurt me!

So needless to say the vet is an interesting place to be. I heard them say I have to go back in 6 weeks! I say lets send Fluffy instead!

Ps...*Ahem* Mom and Dad...I hate the ear drops! They are cold and annoying! Please, if you ever want to see your socks again, you will stop with the ear drops!

Hey, we're only 4 and haven't been to the vet often, but my sissy (Nita) and I are used to it by now. In fact, we just came back from having our teeth cleaned. Some cats are more likely to need it than others. Here's hoping you don't have to go through THAT! It's no picnic.
