BAD NEWS

Ann on Grief - Wed, May 14 2008

I just received word that the kitty who was hit by a car yesterday was taken to a vet, who determined that he had severe spinal injuries and a broken back, so he was euthanized. At least he was surrounded by warmth and loving people at his end. Still, these things always make me cry. And, I'd like to get a hold of the A-hole who hit him and just drove off!!!

At least thanks you to he suffered less. He might have taken a long time to die otherwise. Poor kitty.

I agree... and wasn't injured further. Thank you for stepping in to help when most would have looked the other way.

Raspberry from Cats Haven here. We did the very best we could for him, but he was hurt very badly. He spent last night in a warm and dry crate with food, and he was given fluids when he got to the shelter. Barb (my boss) and I checked on him many times last night, and he seemed to be resting comfortably. This morning, he went to the Cat Doctor, and that's when it was determined that his injuries were so terribly severe. Barb and the staff at the Cat Doctor were all with him when he crossed, so he went to the other side with love and dignity. He wasn't microchipped, so we don't know if someone is looking for him to come home. I'm really sorry he was hurt so badly and we couldn't save him. This is a good time to remind people to microchip your pets. Collars can slip off, but if this beautiful black boy had been chipped, we could at least let his family know what happened to him.

I think you did the best you could for that poor kitty and he is in a better place now. I know what you mean about the person who hit him. I couldn't even hit a squirrel without stopping : (

I'm sorry to hear this. Poor kitty. At least he did pass on surrounded by love instead of just dying on the street. You and the people at Cat's Haven did a wonderful thing for him. As for the A-hole who just drove off - Karma is a B*tch!
