we ARE making a difference

Connie on Activities - Tue, May 13 2008

Dear Indy Paw friends,

David Horth, the board chair at HSI called me this morning! He has been reading my emails to him and more importantly, he is reading what we are writing here on IndyPaws and he is visiting my blog, www.saveindianaanimals.blogspot.com.

He said he is very interested in what I was writing and he truly seemed like he cared and wanted to know our thoughts as animal lovers about HSI and animal welfare.

I've been putting my phone numbers on my emails, but I have to truthfully say I did not think he would call. I think it took a lot of integrity to make that call. He said we probably won't agree on every issue of my emails, but he said he does see my points on issues and will take them into consideration.

Please do not let my voice be the only one he hears from. You can email him at DavidHorth@questcre.com

Please don't be shy. David was not an ogre, he really seemed to want to know what we think. Send him your thoughts on the welfare of Indy animals and HSI.

Yay Connie! I read the letter you sent and I think you hit everything. My husband and I added our voices and concerns to your efforts on behalf of Indiana animals. Thanks for taking the initiative. If I can be of any assistance to you, please know that I am available.

I have to say Connie, I am so PROUD of you! I know that putting yourself out there takes a HUGE amount of courage, and I just wanted to say I'm in awe of all your work! THanks for doing all that you do!

Go, Connie, Go Connie! That is very good news. I have a half drafted letter started. Now I will really get my butt in gear and finish it so I can send it. And, Mr. Horth, if you are reading this, thank you for taking the time to respond to Connie and considering our thoughts.

Amy, tell him about the fostering you do also. He was very interested in what I did in the animal community.

YAY! So maybe a petition won't be needed? That's OK with me, as long as something is getting done!

Connie, this is GREAT news! And everyone else, please get those letters going! They don't have to be literary masterpieces, just tell the truth. And be polite, just like you want us pets to be.
Thank you, Mr. Horth, for taking an interest and listening to what our people have to say. They love us and care so much about what's best for us!

Connie, I'm so very proud of you, also! Maybe we should send him a link to the conversation we all had here (with 38-some comments) about opening our own shelter and why...?
