Got my 'stimulus' check.

CatHerder on My Blog - Fri, May 09 2008

...bought a new toilet with some of it. No statement of where the economy is headed was intended. The old one shoots water out the bottom (repaired more than once), it needed replacing since I'm tired of mopping!

Exciting huh?! ;P

Anyone have plans for their 'stimulus' checks?

My cousin sent this to me today: The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal- Mart, the money will go to China . If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs . If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy strippers, drugs, beer and tattoos, since these are the only products still produced in the USA.

Mom said she's saving her's for a rainy day mostly--more likely, she's saving hers for when one of us has to go to the vet and it costs oodles of money....daddy has to spend his on his car for struts and a new windshield...and to make up some of the new transmission and drivetrain...ironically, mom and dad said they might as well have bought an American car with all the trouble they've had with daddy's car.....Ridiculous I tell you.

Mommy got hers today. She had to close out a money market acct. and with the $600 now, she can pay of the emergency room bill. That bill was $2300. She was shocked. That is not fun either but, at least she has it.

I'm slowly, but surely, re-doing my condo... just repainted most of it (everything but bedroom and full bath). Now I'm working on the bathrooms, making it look less 1987 and more 2008+. New flooring is in the plans too... So many projects, so little money. I get a new roof this summer, but the condo association is paying for that.

I hate to tell you this, but you're gonna find out anyway, so you might as well be prepared. You're going recieve separate bills for everyone who took a look at you. After my ER visit, I recieved separate bills from the hospital, the attending physician, and a third one (what it was, I can't remember)on top of everything the insurance took care of. Yeah, it was shocking.

We are talking about replacing some of the fencing or buy more plants or remove a tree. The money is pretty much spent, just gotta decide which project is the priority.

Don't forget the "facility fee"! For my surgery last fall they charged $500 for the use of the OR. Whee.

I guess I'll just give it to the state government in the form of property taxes. Yay-rah! I haven't gotten my bill yet, but I hope to save this money to help pay it.
