Rescue update

Mama Muttblood^..^ on Activities - Fri, May 09 2008

Our new girl is doing well. I named her Farrah, kind of a play on the word pheremone, which is what got her in this mess to begin with. She is an exceptional dog. AND I think I have a home for her. The day I wrote to ARPO about possibly accepting her I got an email from a colleague who works in a different building over on campus. She had been told that I am a sort of dog yenta, and was asking for matchmaking advice. She, her husband and 10 year old son are finally ready to get another dog after their elderly dog passed away a few years ago. They want a young dog, between 1-2 years, female, under #60, housebroken, playful enough for a 10 year old, but not ripping and running all over the place. Sound like anyone you know????? I just could not believe the synchronicity here! She would be the perfect dog for them. She is perfectly content to lie at my feet when inside, doesn't mind being crated, appears to want to play with my girls (fat chance)is housebroken, is quiet, walks well on lead, and doesn't appear to have an aggressive bone in her body. And SWEET! Reminds me about all the things I love about GSD's.They will probably come over for a meet and greet this weekend, but I will keep her till she's done being in heat. Oh Joy. They, of course, agreed to have her spayed. Their previous dog went everywhere with them, lived in the house, etc. And they love shepherds, as their old dog had some shepherd in her. This is why I do what I do! It gives me so much joy to help people and dogs who were meant to be together come together. And if it turns out that she is not perfect for them, she will be for some other lucky person. Just wanted to share.

What a coincidence! This sounds like it was meant to be. I had a GSD/collie when I was growing up. He was the best dog. He had the fur and nose of a collie but the tempermant and attitude of a GSD. Hi name was Biskit. As soon as you posted Farrah's picture, I saw my Biskit in her! She sounds like an awesome girl. I'd take her!!

That is wonderful! She IS beautiful and sounds like a very sweet dog. My Molly was a GSD/dobie mix and was the best dog I ever had. Yay for Farrah! Great name, by the way.

Love the name.....how appropriate. Sounds like a great match, but as you say, if not....she'll find a loving forever home, as she seems to be very sweet. For now, she has a great foster home (we won't ask Maddy)!!!!

Amazing how things work out isn't it?? She's beautiful and reminds me of my GSD / Husky mix who was a sweetie!!! Good job Mama M and here's hoping that this works out for Farrah.

That's great! Now how much of that $700,000 have we raised yet????? Seriously, I hope it works out for Farrah. She was lucky to get picked up by you.

This is a great story. I sure hope the family likes her. We had a GSD named Lucy. She was the greatest. We lost her at the early age of 9. She loved going to McCormick's Creek State Park.

What a cool story!! I know how we're going to raise that money for our IP shelter! All of you foster moms should write down your foster stories. We'll compile a book and sell it to raise the money. Who doesn't love a good dog story?
