Our new girl is doing well. I named her Farrah, kind of a play on the word pheremone, which is what got her in this mess to begin with. She is an exceptional dog. AND I think I have a home for her. The day I wrote to ARPO about possibly accepting her I got an email from a colleague who works in a different building over on campus. She had been told that I am a sort of dog yenta, and was asking for matchmaking advice. She, her husband and 10 year old son are finally ready to get another dog after their elderly dog passed away a few years ago. They want a young dog, between 1-2 years, female, under #60, housebroken, playful enough for a 10 year old, but not ripping and running all over the place. Sound like anyone you know????? I just could not believe the synchronicity here! She would be the perfect dog for them. She is perfectly content to lie at my feet when inside, doesn't mind being crated, appears to want to play with my girls (fat chance)is housebroken, is quiet, walks well on lead, and doesn't appear to have an aggressive bone in her body. And SWEET! Reminds me about all the things I love about GSD's.They will probably come over for a meet and greet this weekend, but I will keep her till she's done being in heat. Oh Joy. They, of course, agreed to have her spayed. Their previous dog went everywhere with them, lived in the house, etc. And they love shepherds, as their old dog had some shepherd in her. This is why I do what I do! It gives me so much joy to help people and dogs who were meant to be together come together. And if it turns out that she is not perfect for them, she will be for some other lucky person. Just wanted to share.
