I have Colitis!!

Stevie on Activities - Wed, May 07 2008

I've been diagnosed with stress induced colitis.

I pooped in my crate during the middle of the week for the past two weeks--no runny stuff, just poop with some mucus that I smashed and covered up in my towel. I also pooped on the floor 2 weeks ago in the corner under the table which mom said was very strange for me. Anyway, on saturday mom let me out in the morning and I came back in the house will blood all over my "pants!"

So, mom called Dr. Short at Allisonville Animal Hospital and she said that I have colitis, but preferred not to put me on any meds because it wasn't diarhhea. Dr Short asked, "Well, a lot of times colitis is stress induced...has anything changed in Stevie's life?" Guess, what...there has been a huge change. Daddy started going back to school about 2 months ago for his degree in Culinary Arts and he's gone every evening and doesn't spend as much time with me, his princess!!!! Dogma was convinced that I had post-partum depression, but instead I just don't feel good cause of my colitis...I sulk and appear unhappy when daddy's gone.

Mom says it's a little strange because I'm not an anxious or clingy dog, but she says I must hold everything in internally and then it just comes out my butt :)

My treatment??? A tablespoon of yogurt and a walk qd!

Poor girl. I just got part of my pants shaved, thanks to MOM. I know have a potty patch so things stay clean back there... maybe you need one, too. I hope that yogurt helps you feel better. I love yogurt. Oh, and you really shouldn't wear your emotions on your butt. Not pretty.

Stevie, I am so sorry you are not well. I had yogurt tonight as well. I am fine. I just love it. I get green beans and cottage cheese or yogurt every night. Has never hurt me. I know what you mean about the fandy pants. I have one too. Mommy always has to cut a poop shoot when she does the BIG grooming. It is strange how the smallest things can upset us. When mommy was home the last two weeks with the head injury, I was not happy. We just lounged around all day. I am us to being in the kitchen jail. Things were not right.I am soooo glad she went back to work and I am in jail again.

I am sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well Stevie. I don't have any digestive problems, but my Momma does so she knows how you feel. Let Mom and Dad take care of you...enjoy the extra attention and the yogurt(I love yogurt!!). I hope you get to spend some extra time with your Dad soon!!
