Marion Shelter - Official email

Marci on My Blog - Thu, May 01 2008

Here is the email received from a friend of mine yesterday. The old message was fairly burried.

I have gotten multiple copies of an e-mail about the Grant County Shelter in Marion closing with an urgent plea to help the dogs there. The good news is that they will NOT be euthanizing any of the animals in the shelter - this info is directly from the shelter. The website listed in the e-mails I have gotten is from a well-meaning person who was trying to help the shelter find homes for the dogs. Somehow the info got jumbled up and the great news that they are building a brand new shelter has turned into an urgent plea for help.

Although the old shelter is closing down, they are committed to finding each of these dogs a home and will not shut their doors until all of the dogs have been adopted. They were not sure how this rumor got started, but stated that it is not true. They are not, however, bringing any new dogs into their shelter. The city is planning on opening a new shelter and does not want to transfer any of the dogs from one shelter to the other - hence the need for these current dogs to find homes.

If you have forwarded the original message to anyone else, please let them know!

I just called them and their mailbox is full and you can't leave them a message. I hope it's true that they will not close until all the animals are adopted. If people call and get through or write, maybe they will stick to their word.

That is great news, I hope Marion in Grant County can get the same kind of help.

"Although the old shelter is closing down, they are committed to finding each of these dogs a home and will not shut their doors until all of the dogs have been adopted. " But what about the cats? Why don't they care about the cats?

I think they are referring to the Marion shelter. I think it was just a typo.
