Mom won't take us this year. She told dad last night, she can't support the IHS until she understands exactly which animal population they are trying to serve. She doesn't understand why they have dogs for "adoption" that cost up to $350. If they turned those dogs over to rescues that space would be open for other dogs that aren't, as my mom says "so fancy", she is afraid the ones that aren't so fancy don't have much of a chance at being adopted if there is no space for them.
So I guess we are jusat going to have our own Mutt Strut on the Monon!
Mom totally agrees with your mom Butch. We also think to have our own Monon Mutt Strut would be so cool.
We won't be there either. I will not support a "Humane" Society that refuses to take in strays. We are walking in Walking for Dreams instead. Please go to www.walkingfordreams.org for more info.
Maybe we should try to organize an anti Mutt Strut on the Monon and give out information to all dog walkers (or people hanging just hanging out with their furkids) about the HSI. Not information against HSI, but just flyers that explain the intake procedures and why we belive they are not serving the animal community that the HSI Mission Statement claims to support. It is not my intention to bash them, or say they are wrong, but to inform people of the ways that I believe they are not serving the animal community. It would be a quiet informative protest. What do you think?
