Hi guys. Hope everyone has been out enjoying this great weather. All our dogs certainly have been. They love being outside particularly when it's nice and sunny. I just wanted to give a few updates on our group. We had an elderly Beagle named Wander that we have had for years. He finally got adopted but was returned after a short period of time. They just decided that it wasn't going to work out for them. A few weeks after being returned to us, he had a stroke. We had to take him and have him euthanized a few weeks ago when it became apparent that he was not going to recover and was going to have a very poor quality of life. I'm glad he was in a "real" home for awhile and got to enjoy that but I'm also glad that he was with us at the end. He knew us and knew how much we loved him and that was his final memory so I'm glad of that. We took a few of our dogs to a great No Kill shelter in Michigan. We took Cowboy Bob, Jack and Seymour up there. All three of them have been here for well over a year. We have friends up there and the shelter is great. It's very clean and even has heated floors for the dogs. They are open 7 days a week and even have evening hours. They are still getting settled in but we anticipate that they will get adopted soon. We hated to send them away but it was really better for them. The rescue dogs that aren't in foster care stay at our home. We have several outbuildings and play yards but it's not a substitute for a real house with a real family. It was hard to let them go but it was really best for them so they will have a better chance of being adopted. We are still always looking for foster homes for our dogs and cats. We have a temporary foster home for Valentine(our avatar) but we're not sure if they will be able to foster her long term. She's a great dog! As always, we look forward to meeting some of you at our adoption events. We are at the Petco in Fishers every other Saturday. We will be there this coming week with some of our adoptable pets. Stop by and say Hi if you get a chance. Thanks for adopting to adopt.
We'll miss you, Wander. Now you can romp and wander all around heaven! We love Wags, they have helped me and tons of other animals have another chance! See everyone on Saturday at the adoptions!
