Vomit Trail

Brad on Health - Wed, April 23 2008

Does anyone else have a cat that leaves vomit trails? What's a vomit trail you ask? Well, when Boomer vomits (generally when he literally inhales his "treat" I personally make him) he leaves a trail of it throughout the apartment. For instance, he will vomit, jump over it, take a couple of steps, vomit again, jump over that pile, take a couple of steps, vomit a little more, jump over that pile...you get the point. It's not that I don't mind him vomiting, I just wish that darn cat would do it all in one place so it would make it easier for me to clean up....

Boomer: Dad, I don't feel...so....BLAHHHH.

Coming, Boomer!!!! Hang in there!

Regina was always good for this even before she became terminaly ill. That's why I broke down and bought a Hoover steam cleaner. Get well soon Boomer.

Since we have switched food our cats have not vomited or had hair balls at all. What kind of food are you feeding Boomer?

I feed Boomer the Whiskas with meat filling (about 3/4 cup a day). However, I don't think it is strictly a dietary issue. He only tends to vomit when I make his special treat. Whenever Boomer is greatly deserving, I will have a Whiskas wet tiny bites treat sprinkled with Temptation treats. Boomer woofs it down so fast that he literally doesn't chew it. When he vomits it comes back up in whole pieces. I was hoping he would learn to chew, but maybe two years of feline living hasn't prepared him for such knowledge yet. (He also vomits if he obtains a tiny sip of milk, but I make strict regulations to make sure that doesn't happen because he empties his whole stomach on such an occasion. Little lactose intolerant tux cat Boomer is. [How's that for passive voice?])

I have one of those... Charlie! It doesn't happen often, but when he's sick, he likes to make lots of little piles all over the place. Yay. It's like an Easter Egg hunt, only for barf instead. All the others yak in a single 'pile'. Cyrus spews the most often, mostly because he has a piggie moment and eats too fast.

Sounds like there is something in his "treat" that just doesn't agree with him. It's good going down, but.... Poor Boomer.

See...if you had a dog, they'd come clean it up for you, Mr. Brad!

We had this problem til mom changed my food from special kitty to indoor cat formula, and no more treats for me, But I do get a spoon of tuna a couple times a week. My house maids
Sadie and Winston use to clean up after me as mom tried to get the little green thang out.
Oh what fun she had fighting those 2 for my piles of treats.lol

Tucker, don't get me started on Special Kitty. Not that I approve of bashing on this site, I hate that food. I ate it once and was really sick from it. So sick that conservative Dad decided to throw out the whole bag, switch me to the higher priced Wiskas, and never looked back. I won't even go near it now. Gigi, Uncle Mikey's cat, eats Special Kitty, but I will refuse to eat it. Dad has to go buy me some Wiskas, Friskies, or whatever is on sale. I just put my nose in the air at the scent of such food.

Everyone should feed their kitties the very best food they can afford, not whatever is on sale. The Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA state that the absolute best thing you can do to lengthen their lives and give them the best quality of life for your pets is to feed them the highest quality food you can afford. You would not believe some of the crap that is in the foods mentioned, and moderately bad things like obesity, poor dentition, hairballs can all be linked to ongoing consumption of poor quality food. Serious ailments like kidney disease (very prevalent in cats), liver disease, and cancer can all be linked to poor quality foods. Please do your homework and research the food you are feeding your pets. Vomiting and diarrhea are NOT par for the course with most pets.

We use purina indoor now. We went thru nutro, science diet, iams, eagle pack, friskies and a few others til I stopped leaving piles,It was not what was on sale here but what agreed with my stomach. The tuna in water is a specal treat for me. And mom said with all the recalls we are playing it safe and staying with purina since it agrees with me.
