The only groups I've found are not located anywhere close enough to make it plausible. I have heard many clubs have a few open days, so I guess I need to get in contact with ILCC. I've also been told that Greyhound rescues are great for information, so I'll try to talk to them as well.
Rachael, I'm pretty sure lure coursing is only reserved for sighthounds and I believe the closest club is somewhere near crown point (and they only have an even a couple times a year!). I'm not sure where there is open practice or anything--I considered this with Alf when we were fostering him, but there just wasn't anything close--plus the dogs have to be comfortable around other dogs. It's surprising they don't let Chinese Cresteds lure course, considering many people think they are a lot like sighthounds (I personally disagree completely with that statement). What about agility or flyball?
I know to be titled and such, the dog must be a sighthound. I'm not looking at this for competition, just as an outlet for Gunner. Sadly, it seems like only really forward places (i.e. California) have groups that allow other breeds to enjoy the sport as well. Agility is out because Gunner does not do small spaces, and therefore refuses to go near a tunnel. Flyball is possible, but he plays ball so much that I was looking for something different (although he wouldn't object to more fetch)/
