Thanks Freckles (a/k/a Future Maggie, LOL!)
Lots of people aren't going I guess because of HSI policies, so I hear....but mom said all personal feelings aside its a great acitivty for me and Riggs and it will benefit animals, bottom line. I just want to go and have fun, and Riggs just wants to sniff stuff. Sorry you're not up for struttin'! I'll do a lap for you.

I can say that I understand HSI's change in policy but I still disagree with it. They are becoming a glorified pet shop and nothing more(with their fluctuating adoption fees and cherry picked pets). There is so much that they could do considering their name recognition. I wish they would at least make an attempt at going true No Kill rather than just changing their admission policies so they can pretend to be a No Kill shelter. While I also appreciate that there are still animals in there, I can't save them all. I certainly do donate both time and money to organizations that are trying to make a difference to the huge homeless pet population(FACE, ARPO, Wags Strays, etc). I believe that if you really support an organization you back it up with your actions. And that's why we won't be participating. I have not supported them in years and won't start now. If you would like some truly eye opening info, check out this link http://movetoact.org/objective2.html I think there are so many other ways that costs could be cut(Ms Boden and her huge salary for one)and they don't even look at that. They have such name recognition that people will blindly give them money without even questioning where it is going. Looking at the long term big picture is that they need to get on board with some low or no cost spay neuter and seek out community help. Their track record is horrible lately when it comes to fostering, volunteering, customer service, etc. Focus on the animals and not on other things and maybe people will return. They could do so much for the people and pets in Indy but choose to hide behind their facade.
Glad to hear you're coming buddy. Mom and dad have a very special love for Rotties. Before me and Maggs the had Solomon and they said he was the best Rottie ever! Mom said she isn't getting all caught up in the politics of HSI and their policy changes, bottom line is this is a social event for us 4-leggers and it will be fun. I'll be watchin' for you!
